The 2026 ITS Library Open House Comes to a Close, with Visitor Enthusiasm Remaining High Through the Final Day

Surabaya – The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Library officially concluded its ITS Library Open House 2026: Your Home for Learning and Inspiration series on Friday (September 11). After running for nearly two weeks since August 31, 2026, the various activities successfully encouraged students to become more familiar with the facilities, services, collections, and activities available at the ITS Library.

As the event entered its second week—specifically September 7–11, 2026—visitor enthusiasm remained evident in the large number of students participating in various activities. Activities held during the final week included “Meet the Librarian,” a Book Fair, “Movie Time,” a Statista Workshop, and a Book Talk featuring discussions about books and Islamic values.

On Monday (September 7), the Open House featured a “Meet the Librarian” event and a Book Fair. The Book Fair, held in collaboration with Naraloka, was once again well-attended by students. The wide variety of books available drew students to stop by and find reading material that suited their needs and interests. Meanwhile, through the “Meet the Librarian” event, students were able to interact directly with librarians to learn about the various facilities and services available at the ITS Library.

The festivities continued on Tuesday (September 8) with an even more diverse lineup of activities, including the Statista Workshop, Meet the Librarian, Book Fair, and Movie Time. The Statista Workshop was met with great enthusiasm from participants because it gave students the opportunity to learn about and explore how to use Statista as a source of information and data. On the same day, Movie Time added to the lively atmosphere in the library with a screening of Cek Toko Sebelah, a 2016 Indonesian comedy-drama written and directed by Ernest Prakasa.

Next, on Wednesday (September 9), the ITS Library hosted a Book Talk titled “Aku Gelisah, Aku Bertanya, Islam Menjawab,” which discussed a book by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Abdullah Shahab, M.Sc. This event was part of the program designed to provide participants with an opportunity to discuss and explore perspectives from the book under discussion.

On Thursday (September 10), the series of events continued with “Meet the Librarian” and the Book Fair. Meanwhile, “Movie Time” returned with a screening of Sekawan Limo, a 2024 Indonesian horror-comedy film directed by Bayu Skak. The film screening in the library area was one of the activities that attracted students to spend time there while enjoying the library atmosphere in a more relaxed way.

The highlight of the ITS Library Open House series took place on Friday (September 11). On that final day, the “Meet a Librarian” event and the Book Fair continued and received a positive response from visitors until the event concluded. The enthusiasm that persisted through the final day demonstrated that the Open House served as an opportunity for students to get to know the ITS Library better.

During the event, the 2026 ITS Library Open House served as a platform for both new and returning students to get to know the library not only as a place to search for and read its collections, but also as a space to study, discuss, access information, and participate in various activities that support their academic needs and personal development.

Although the ITS Library Open House 2026 series concluded on September 11, students can still enjoy the Book Fair until September 15, 2026. The ITS Library hopes that the various activities held during the Open House will serve as a first step toward building a closer relationship between students and the library and encouraging more optimal use of the library’s facilities and services.
