ITS Library Hosts “Statista in Practice” Workshop to Support Academic Research

Surabaya — The Library of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) once again held an information literacy event through a workshop titled “Statista in Practice: A Hands-on Academic Workshop” on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The event was held in a hybrid format, with in-person participants gathering at the Creative Co-Working Space (CCWS) on the 1st floor of the ITS Library and online participants joining via Zoom.

This workshop features Stephani Susilo, Business Development Manager for Academia and the Public Sector, as the guest speaker. The event aims to introduce participants to Statista and help them use it as a source of data and information to support their various research needs and academic assignments.

Through a hands-on approach, participants not only received an explanation of Statista but also had the opportunity to learn how to use the platform to find data relevant to their academic needs. The material presented is expected to help participants become more effective at searching for, exploring, and using data as part of the research process.

The workshop was attended by approximately 50 participants, both in person and online. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident in the interactive discussion sessions. A number of participants actively asked questions about how to use Statista to support their research and academic needs.

Interestingly, participants who actively asked questions also received door prizes from Statista. This helped boost the participants’ enthusiasm throughout the session and created a more interactive and enjoyable workshop atmosphere.

Through this initiative, the ITS Library continues to strive to offer a variety of programs aimed at developing information literacy and promoting the use of electronic resources among the academic community. The “Statista in Practice” workshop is expected to enhance participants’ understanding of how to utilize credible data sources to support learning, research, and other academic activities.
