Surabaya, June 10, 2026 – The Library of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) hosted an educational visit from SDIT At-Taqwa on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). The event was attended by 31 students and 4 accompanying teachers as part of the school’s literacy program to introduce public libraries and broaden students’ horizons from an early age.
The visit began at 9:00 a.m., when a group of selected students from grades 1 through 6 arrived at the ITS Library. The event then kicked off in the library lobby, where an ITS librarian welcomed the students and gave a brief introduction to the library rules and facilities.
Following the opening session, the students took part in a library tour that began on the 5th floor and ended on the 1st floor. During the tour, the students were introduced to the library’s various facilities, ranging from the reading room and collection areas to the literacy service rooms available at the ITS Library.
Throughout the event, the students showed great enthusiasm, actively asking questions and interacting with the librarians who were there to assist them. The visit had a warm and educational atmosphere, especially when the students were given the opportunity to see firsthand various services they had never encountered before.
This initiative is expected to foster a love of reading and build literacy habits starting in elementary school, while also introducing the role of university libraries as open learning centers for the general public.
