Surabaya, June 9, 2026 – Six journalism students from SMP Negeri 1 Sukorame, accompanied by two teachers, paid an educational visit to the Library of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. This activity aimed to enhance the students’ literacy skills while introducing them to the various literacy and digital resources available at the ITS Library.

The group was welcomed by three ITS librarians in the library lobby before attending a knowledge-sharing session in the ITS Library meeting room. The event was opened and led by Eva Mursidah, S.I.Pust., a literacy librarian at the ITS Library.

During the session, Eva introduced the various services and facilities available at the ITS Library, ranging from digital collections, collaborative study spaces, and information literacy services to facilities that support student creativity. The students were also invited to discuss the importance of literacy in the digital age and the role of modern libraries as centers for learning and innovation.

Following the discussion session, the journalism students took a library tour to see various areas of the ITS Library firsthand. They visited the reading room, the digital collection area, the theater room, and other facilities that support academic activities and literacy development.

One of the students on the visit, Muhammad Arasya Farrizan, said he was impressed by the modern and diverse design of the ITS library.

This visit is expected to broaden the students’ understanding of the role of libraries in the digital age, while also motivating them to continue developing their literacy and journalism skills from an early age.
