Industrial Engineering

Your success in running an organization or becoming an academic highly depends on the analytical and managerial skills you possess. The essence of the Industrial Engineering program, which integrates management and engineering disciplines, is ideal for honing your abilities to navigate career pathways in any sector you work in—manufacturing, services, or government organizations. Upon graduating from this program, you are expected to become a resilient manager in corporate settings, an internationally qualified consultant, or a productive academic in higher education. The Department of Industrial Engineering under the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) opened the Industrial Engineering Master's (S-2) Study Program starting in the 1996/1997 academic year. From the 1996/1997 academic year to the 2004/2005 academic year, it graduated 237 alumni out of 755 enrolled students. The ITS Department of Industrial Engineering is a respected department in Indonesia and well-recognized internationally. With a history spanning over 20 years, the ITS Department of Industrial Engineering has become a productive program in producing graduates and research works. Supported by 31 academic staff with qualifications: 1 Professor, 7 Doctors, and 23 Masters. Available supporting facilities include: Fully AC Classrooms with LCDs, 6 Laboratories, Discussion Rooms, a Reading Room with more than 4,000 library materials, international scientific journals, national scientific journals, internet connections, and other facilities.

Objectives

Education in the Master's Program in Industrial Engineering aims to produce graduates with high knowledge and capabilities in planning and organizing industrial systems broadly and complexly. Another desired objective of this program is to enhance effectiveness and efficiency, specifically within industrial systems. To achieve this, an Industrial Engineering graduate plays a strong role related to the design, improvement, and operation of integrated production systems involving people, materials, machines and equipment, information, and energy. To fulfill these capabilities, an Industrial Engineering graduate must be equipped with a strong foundation to utilize and apply social sciences (specifically economics) and engineering sciences together to analyze, predict, and evaluate the results achieved by industrial systems optimally.

Fields of Interest

The Industrial Engineering Study Program offers specialization areas that students can choose according to their talents and abilities, including:
  • QUALITY AND MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT
  • QUALITY AND MANUFACTURING OPTIMIZATION
  • LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
  • ERGONOMICS AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
  • PERFORMANCE AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

Academic Activities

The Industrial Engineering Master's (S-2) Study Program is conducted with a total credit load of 40 credits (sks) within a normal duration of 4 semesters (2 years); however, high-achieving students can complete it in 3 semesters. Every student must take mandatory courses, elective courses, a thesis proposal, and a thesis according to the curriculum. The academic calendar for Semester I begins in early September, while Semester II begins in early February and ends in June. Lecture Schedule: • Regular: Monday–Friday at 08.00–16.00 • Evening: Monday–Friday at 18.30–22.00 • Weekend: Saturday and Sunday at 08.00–16.00
