
ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to strengthen its commitment to providing inclusive access to higher education. Through the 2026 Garuda Sarjana Scholarship program, prospective new students can now pursue a joint or double degree at ITS and a renowned international university.
The Garuda Sarjana Scholarship is a scholarship program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). This scholarship targets the nation’s best young people from underrepresented backgrounds. Its implementation is supported by funding from the Education Endowment Fund, managed by the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) and coordinated by the Directorate General of Science and Technology (Ditjen Saintek) of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
This year, the Garuda Sarjana Scholarship is open to all Indonesian citizens (WNI) who meet the requirements. Eligible participants must be 12th-grade students from high school, vocational school, or Islamic high school (MA) in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Regarding the program, ITS Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Nurul Widiastuti, SSi, MSi, PhD, explained that this scholarship has two schemes. One scheme offered is a joint degree (JD) or double degree (DD) program between a domestic partner university and a foreign university (PTLN). “ITS has the opportunity to be one of seven state universities that are partners in this Garuda Scholarship program,” she explained.
In keeping with the spirit of internationalization, the JD/DD program is organized by 10 International Undergraduate Program (IUP) study programs at ITS and partner universities abroad. Prospective students also have the opportunity to earn dual or joint degrees from leading international institutions.
The ITS IUP registration schedule is divided into three waves. The first wave opened from January 12 to February 25, 2026. The second wave will open from April 1 to May 6, 2026, followed by the third wave from June 3 to 30, 2026. Meanwhile, registration for the 2026 Garuda Sarjana Scholarship is divided into two waves. The first wave opens from February 15 to March 15, 2026, and the second wave from May 25 to June 25, 2026.

Furthermore, the Professor of the ITS Chemistry Department also outlined the benefits of the Garuda Sarjana Scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition fees , registration fees, and educational allowances. Supporting funds cover transportation, visa application fees, health insurance, arrival fees, monthly living expenses, and emergency expenses.
The integration of the ITS IUP and the Garuda Sarjana Scholarship demonstrates ITS’s support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include points 4 on Quality Education and 10 on Reducing Inequality. The program also supports point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals by expanding equitable access to higher education across the country.
