ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to strengthen global relations in an effort to produce the best graduates. This was demonstrated by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between ITS and the Hochschule Wismar (HSW) of Germany for a dual-degree master’s program in the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering (Transla) at the ITS Rectorate Building on Wednesday (February 25).
On the occasion, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, PhD, stated that ITS and HSW have long collaborated in the maritime sector. This previous collaboration was carried out in the form of a dual bachelor’s and master’s degree program in the ITS Department of Marine Engineering . “This collaboration has succeeded in producing competent and professional international graduates in this field,” he added.

More than just a paper agreement, Bambang stated that this activity represents a continuation of a long-standing, meaningful collaboration. He believes the trust between the two parties represents a future investment in building the global maritime industry. “We hope this will benefit each institution and country, as well as the global maritime community,” said the ITS Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

Furthermore, the German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ralf Beste, stated that this student exchange program could be an extraordinary initiative. This is because students can gain new experiences and perspectives in pursuing a career in the maritime sector. “This program is not just about earning a degree, but also about producing graduates who can return and contribute to their country,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Marianne Schmolke, a representative from Hochschule Wismar, stated that she sees potential for collaboration with ITS in addressing current global issues. She emphasized the importance of producing research and graduates who can impact their surroundings. “I believe we can learn from each other in creating a better future,” she said.

The signing of this collaboration demonstrates ITS’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This agreement covers point 4 on Quality Education and point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. Both parties hope this collaboration will result in impactful educational programs that support the maritime sector. (ITS Public Relations)
