ITS Campus, ITS News — Taking advantage of the rapid technological developments in education, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) held a seminar on Applied Programs in Information and Communication Technology (in Indonesian terms, Program Terapan Bidang Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi, abbreviated and will be referred to as Prodistik). The event, which focused on the challenges of applying generative artificial intelligence (AI) in Prodistik learning, was held in the Auditorium of the ITS Research Center Building on Wednesday (26/2).
Opening the event, ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD explained that Prodistik is an educational training program designed to equip young people in high schools and equivalent institutions with skills in the field of information technology. The program has been running since 2007 with one partner and now has 32 partners supporting this collaboration. “This continuity shows the impact and influence of this program in supporting education,” he said.

On this occasion, the Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ITS also highlighted the importance of teachers and the younger generation learning about the rapidly developing use of AI. He further emphasized that the various challenges in utilizing AI need to be addressed wisely so that the technology can be used to its full potential, especially in education.

Next, the Head of Prodistik ITS Dr Dra Ismaini Zain MSi, led a discussion session with two speakers. The first speaker was ITS Vice Rector I, Prof. Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD, who discussed the admission mechanism for new students at ITS in 2025, aiming to equip teachers with the knowledge to better prepare their students. “There are various new technology-based study programs at ITS that prospective students can consider,” she explained.
Continuing the discussion session, Dr Anny Yuniarti SKom MCompSc, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program at ITS, served as the second speaker and provided insights into generative AI. She emphasized the widespread use of AI today, which requires adaptation from both teachers and students. “Generative AI offers numerous application opportunities in education, such as creating lesson plans and serving as faster teaching assistants,” she explained.
This activity was followed by the signing of cooperation agreements with partners. The signing also demonstrated a commitment to carrying out various activities organized by Prodistik to prepare a skilled generation for technological advancement, both for pursuing higher education and for future employment.

Closing the event, a Prodistik Award session was held as a form of support and appreciation for Prodistik ITS partners. Award categories included partners with 10 years of cooperation, partners with 15 years of cooperation, partners with the best Prodistik management, visionary Prodistik madrasah/school principals, collaborative Prodistik madrasah/school principals, and inspirational Prodistik management chairpersons.
This activity is expected to strengthen collaboration between universities and high schools/vocational schools by continuing to develop alongside technology. This agenda also supports the 4th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on quality education for the future. (ITS Public Relations)
