Schematic of the equation of vision in the creation of the ITS Interior Design Master’s Degree Study Program

ITS Campus, ITS News – As one of the progressive campuses, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again shows its seriousness in advancing education in Indonesia. This time, the ITS Interior Design Department officially presents the Master of Interior Design Masters Study Program (Prodi) for the first time in Indonesia to support the careers of designers to design academics.

The Head of the ITS Interior Design Postgraduate Study Program, Dr. Firman Hawari, SSn, MDs, said that the study program was created to improve student’s abilities in analysis, management, and the aesthetics of interior design. He added that this study program has become the pioneer of the Interior Design Masters Study Program in Indonesia. “The purpose of this study program is of course oriented to the 2020 Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) Design Project Guidebook,” he explained.

Firman explained that the study program will focus on honing four interior design disciplines, namely design management innovation, interior science and technology, interior psychology, and socio-cultural and aesthetics. “With this knowledge, postgraduate students will have the ability to synergize every level of competence in their respective professions,” he said.

Furthermore, the Interior Design Department lecturer said that this study program would hold a lecture system based on a curfew face-to-face. He also revealed that distance lectures (PJJ) were still in the design stage by ITS Interior Design lecturers. “We have adopted this system from the Master of Technology Management (MMT) with the hope that students will be able to study comfortably,” he said.

With 36-semester credit units (SKS), the ITS Interior Design Master will present several elective courses. Namely Contextual Design, Green Design, Inclusive Interior Design, and Interior Concepts and Innovations. “These courses will of course be guided by our competent lecturers and adequate facilities,” he said.
