Surabaya, ITS News — The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering (DTSI) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) concluded the 2026 Industrial Challenge International Business Case Competition (INCHALL IBCC) with a prestigious awards ceremony. The international competition officially reached its climax at the Favehotel MEX Tunjungan Surabaya on Sunday (August 2).
ITS DTSI lecturer Rahmatul Istighfarin, ST., MEM., stated that this year’s event was different from previous years. While previously focused on scientific issues in systems and industrial engineering, this edition specifically featured a business case competition format . “This time, the focus is more on business case competitions to respond to the rapid industrial transformation and train participants’ strategic thinking,” he said.
Furthermore, the lecturer, known as Titi, stated that INCHALL, which has been held for 15 years, has attracted extraordinary enthusiasm. With the theme ” The Game Changer: Transforming Industry Challenges into Sustainable and Competitive Growth ,” the competition is designed to address the dynamics of the global industry.
Dionisius Bagus Narenda Putra, the Executive Chair of INCHALL IBCC 2026, also explained that 108 teams participated. He added that participants came from various universities in Indonesia and abroad. Several foreign universities sent students, including the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation Malaysia, Singapore Management University, and Azerbaijan State University of Economics.
The student, known as Narendra, explained that before reaching the final night, the participants had gone through a rigorous selection process, starting with the preliminary round, semifinals, and final stages. In the final round, the participants’ skills were directly tested by completing a two-hour business case in front of a panel of judges. “In addition to competing, the participants were also invited to broaden their horizons through an industrial conference and a company visit to PT Aice Ice Cream Jatim Industry,” he added.
The awards ceremony concluded with the awarding of champion titles to the teams with the most brilliant solutions. First place went to the NAMA TIM team from ITS. Second place went to the PROFesyenel team, a collaboration between students from the University of Indonesia (UI) and the Bandung Institute of Technology. Third place went to the TNDOENGS team from UI.
All of these activities significantly contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The sustainable business ideas and solutions formulated by participants directly support point 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. This demonstrates that students play a role in developing a sustainable industrial landscape. (*)
