Tulungagung, ITS News – Demonstrating its commitment to supporting equal access to education, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) directly picked up prospective new students (maba) who received the Kartu Indonesia Pintar – Kuliah (KIP-K) scholarship from Tulungagung Regency, Saturday (28/6). This initiative is expected to provide more enthusiasm for prospective ITS maba to realize their dreams.

Head of the ITS Information Technology Department Dr techn Ir Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi MSc explained that this pick-up is a form of ITS appreciation to prospective students who have struggled to continue their education despite economic limitations. “This kind of spirit and determination is what deserves to be appreciated,” he said.

The prospective new student who was picked up was Maitasya Rohmatul Ula who successfully passed ITS through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway. The daughter of Suraji who works as a farmer and Anis Farida as a housewife is the only prospective student receiving KIP-K from the ITS Information Technology Department who passed through the SNBP pathway.

When met at her home, Maitasya said she wanted to continue her studies without burdening her parents financially. This awareness made her struggle to maintain her academic grades, actively seek information, and apply for scholarships from the beginning of the registration period. “I wanted to continue my studies, but my parents’ economic conditions did not support it, so I tried to find my own way,” said the eldest of three siblings.

In her story, the biggest challenge she faced was the limited access to information in her residential area. This affected the process of processing files and information related to registration. “Even so, I remained enthusiastic because my teachers and family always encouraged me to keep moving forward,” said the veiled girl.

Currently, Maitasya and her family are still living in a large family home that is not their own. The distance to the school is quite far, making her have to travel a long way every day. Even so, the limited space and learning facilities do not dampen her enthusiasm to continue to excel and fight to reach her dream campus.

By being accepted as a new student at ITS, Maitasya hopes to maximize her potential while studying at this Hero Campus. She also advised other prospective students not to give up easily and to keep fighting. “You must believe that serious effort will definitely find its way,” Maitasya firmly reminded.

In the future, Hari hopes that programs like this can continue to reach more students from various regions.
