SURABAYA – The Quality Assurance Office of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (KPM ITS) welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Internal Quality Assurance Agency of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (BPMI UMM) on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The BPMI UMM delegation, led by the Head of BPMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jabal Tarik Ibrahim, M.Si., was warmly received by the Head of KPM ITS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Gunani Partiwi, M.T., and ITS QA teams at ITS Quality Assurance Office.

In his remarks, Prof. Jabal expressed that the visit aimed to learn best practices in quality management implemented by ITS, particularly in areas such as business processes, organizational structure, and strategies for enhancing global reputation.

“We view ITS as an institution with a strong and structured quality system. We want to learn how ITS sustains institutional quality and builds towards global competitiveness,” he said.

Prof. Sri Gunani welcomed the initiative and emphasized that quality assurance at ITS goes beyond accreditation—it involves an integrated system aligned with ITS’s vision as a world-class university.

“We encourage every work unit to engage in building a quality culture that aligns with our institutional goals for global excellence,” she explained.

A key focus of the discussion was the International Reputation Unit, which operates under the coordination of KPM ITS. This unit plays an active role in improving ITS’s standing in global rankings such as QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE). The initiative served as a valuable source of inspiration for BPMI UMM in developing its international reputation strategies.

In addition, BPMI UMM expressed appreciation for ITS’s use of integrated information technology systems in quality management. These systems enable real-time monitoring of quality indicators across units and support seamless internal coordination. The efficient organizational structure of KPM ITS and its network of quality control clusters were also noted as important learning points.

To conclude the visit, both institutions agreed on the importance of sustained collaboration through training programs, technical assistance, and human resource capacity development.

“This benchmarking visit is not the end but the beginning of broader synergy to enhance the quality of higher education in Indonesia,” said Prof. Jabal.

The visit concluded with a group photo session and the exchange of souvenirs as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two institutions.
