Surabaya, 21 November 2025 — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) conducted a strategic visit to Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya on Friday (21/11). This visit aimed to strengthen collaboration in the field of information technology to support the utilization of health data, enhance system security, and optimize digital services within the hospital.
During the meeting, the ITS team was welcomed by Wahyu Adi Nugroho, SKom, representing the IT team of Dr. Soetomo Hospital. From ITS, attendees included Dr. Dwi Sunaryono SKom MKom and Ridho Rahman Hariadi SKom MSc, along with several students who have been involved in ongoing research and health technology integration projects.
The meeting took place in an open discussion setting, addressing the challenges of hospital digitalization—from patient data management and health information system interoperability to the need for AI-based solutions and strengthened cybersecurity. Wahyu Adi Nugroho noted that the hospital requires academic partners capable of delivering sustainable innovation. “Digitalization in healthcare is progressing rapidly. Collaboration with ITS is crucial for us to adopt technology that is more secure, effective, and measurable,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dwi Sunaryono emphasized that this collaboration not only broadens research opportunities but also provides real-world experience for students. “ITS students need firsthand exposure to industry dynamics, including the health information systems used in major hospitals like Dr. Soetomo. We hope their knowledge becomes not only theoretical but also impactful in solving real-world problems,” he stated.
Several students in attendance also engaged directly with the hospital’s IT team, exploring technical needs and opportunities for implementing new technologies such as data analytics, AI-based triage, and clinical decision support systems. This interaction marks a concrete step in preparing graduates to contribute to the digital transformation of the healthcare sector.
The visit also supports ITS’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through strengthened technology-based healthcare services, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of innovative digital systems, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strategic collaboration between universities and healthcare institutions.
Through this ongoing collaboration, ITS hopes to deliver more industry-driven projects, strengthen student competencies, and accelerate the modernization of the information systems at Dr. Soetomo Hospital. These efforts are expected to reinforce the innovation ecosystem and support the improvement of healthcare services in East Java.
