Surabaya, IT Journalistic — An atmosphere of emotion and gratitude filled the 11th floor of Tower 2 at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) on Saturday, September 20, 2025. This historic moment symbolizes the transition of the graduates from the academic world to real roles as actors of digital transformation in Indonesia, aligning with ITS’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in quality education and economic growth.

Warmth radiated from the parents in attendance. Mrs. Titin, one of the parent, expressed her pride in witnessing her grandchild graduate at a renowned campus like ITS. “I’m so proud. Not every child can get into ITS. They are already the chosen ones, especially my grandchild here, who came all the way from Papua to study here,” she said.

A similar hope was conveyed by Mrs. Nurul, parent of Rizky Ahmad Maulana. “Alhamdulillah, today my son has reached the graduation stage. My hope is that his knowledge will be beneficial and can be applied in the real world,” she said. She also hopes her son will not only work for a company but can also become an entrepreneur and create new jobs, following in the footsteps of many successful young people in the technology field.

Kevin Putra Santoso (Kevin) shares his inspiring story on stage at Graha Sepuluh Nopember.

The graduation moment became even more meaningful with the heartfelt impressions and messages delivered by the representative of the Information Technology Department (DTI) graduates, Kevin Putra Santoso (Kevin), a KIP-K scholarship recipient who graduated with a GPA of 3.86 and praise-worthy honors. Before hundreds of guests filling Graha Sepuluh Nopember, consisting of fellow graduates, families, and the ITS Rectorate and faculty leadership, Kevin shared his life journey full of struggle. “Life is a mystery. My mother is a fighter. She never knew the meaning of surrender and always fought her best for her children after my father passed away,” he said.

His passion in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) drove him to establish Avalon AI, which started with just himself and has now grown into a community of over 50 people focused on AI research. “We are all the frontier generation here. We are the demographic bonus that will realize Indonesia Emas in 2045. Never tired of creating, because this is only the beginning,” his message was met with thunderous applause. Kevin also advised that the knowledge gained during studies should become a weapon to advance human civilization and make the alma mater proud.

The W-132 graduation procession is not a finish line, but a gateway for ITS Information Technology graduates to carve their own histories in the real world. Equipped with the knowledge, character, and entrepreneurial spirit instilled during their studies, they are ready to launch as genuine agents of digital transformation, carrying the name of ITS and contributing to Indonesia’s progress while supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
