Surabaya, IT Journalistic — The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has established a strategic collaboration with Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in the development and utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to support the strengthening of the national taxation system. The activity was held on Thursday, 22 January 2026, at the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC), ITS.

This collaboration focuses on the development of AI technologies that have become a priority for DJP in addressing challenges within the national taxation system, particularly in three main areas: Machine Learning for Taxpayer Risk Profiling, AI for Data Quality Improvement and Data Integration, and AI-based Anomaly and Fraud Detection. These focus areas are expected to enhance the effectiveness of risk analysis, improve data management quality, and strengthen early detection capabilities for anomalies and potential fraud within the taxation system.

On this occasion, the development team presented the initial prototype results that have been developed using GenAI Senopati. The prototype is designed to meet DJP’s needs in taxpayer risk mapping, cross-system data integration and quality enhancement, as well as AI-driven anomaly and fraud detection.

Going forward, the AI program prototype is planned to be demonstrated directly to DJP, with Senopati serving as the main backbone. The Senopati system is designed to be on-premise, ensuring data security, confidentiality, and data protection, as well as compliance with national regulations, as it is developed and managed locally.

Meanwhile, from ITS, the event was attended by the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnerships, and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Agus Muhamad Hatta, S.T., M.Si., Ph.D., who expressed ITS’s full support for research and innovation collaboration between universities and government institutions. He emphasized the importance of technology-based research in addressing strategic national needs, particularly in the digital transformation of the public sector.

Also present was the Dean of FTEIC ITS, Prof. Dr. Diana Purwitasari, S.Kom., M.Sc., who stated that FTEIC ITS is ready to become a strategic partner in the development of applied AI technologies with tangible impact. In addition, the Head of the Senopati Team, Dr. Dwi Sunaryono, S.Kom., M.Kom., explained Senopati’s role as a secure and reliable local AI platform in supporting large-scale data processing and mission-critical systems.

The discussion was conducted interactively, addressing the potential implementation of AI within the taxation system, challenges in cross-system data integration, and opportunities for further development through sustainable research collaboration between DJP and ITS. This synergy is expected to generate innovative, adaptive, and operationally relevant technological solutions for DJP.
