Surabaya, IT Journalistic — In an effort to implement the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, the Department of Information Technology (DTI) of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) conducted a Progress Project visit to MPM Learning Center in Sidoarjo on December 1, 2025. The visit aimed to broaden students’ perspectives on the application of academic knowledge in the industrial field, specifically on how smart technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data processing are now being utilized to digitalize services and enhance customer experience in the automotive sector.
The visit was part of the lecturers’ initiative to apply academic knowledge in real industrial environments, ensuring that the DTI curriculum aligns with market demands. According to a faculty representative, the focus of ITS DTI has evolved beyond theoretical learning.
“Not only theoretical, but as lecturers we also apply academic knowledge to the industrial field. In the future, we hope to fully implement OBE, meaning that DTI will not only focus on theory but also adjust to the needs of the industry,” stated the lecturer, emphasizing DTI ITS’ commitment to outcome-based learning.
ITS DTI student representatives engaged in a discussion with the MPM Learning Center Sidoarjo team during a presentation session on the implementation of digital transformation in the automotive sector.
In the automotive sector, students discovered that AI has begun to play a significant role in digital transformation. Dian Anggraeni Putri, one of the student representatives who joined the visit, shared that the experience provided new insights into the technological applications they have been studying on campus.
“This visit opened up new perspectives on how AI is starting to be used in the automotive sector, such as digitalization of services, data analysis, and enhancing customer comfort,” Dian explained.
Although the visit did not delve deeply into technical aspects, students were able to observe firsthand how companies utilize smart technologies as part of their digital transformation strategies.
