The University of Porto (U.Porto), Portugal, offers an International Exchange Program for students from partner universities for the Autumn Semester 2026 (September – January).

This program allows nominated students to undertake one (1) semester or one academic year of study in Portugal and aims to strengthen international academic cooperation between institutions.

Program Overview

Founded in 1911, the University of Porto is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Portugal, consistently ranked among the top 100 universities in Europe and top 200–300 worldwide. U.Porto has strong internationalisation initiatives and collaborates with institutions from nearly 150 countries worldwide.

Exchange students may study at the undergraduate or master’s level, depending on faculty availability.

Academic System

Credit System: ECTS
ECTS Load:
- 60 ECTS per academic year
- ±30 ECTS per semester
ECTS Grading Scale:
Local grades range from 0–20 (pass mark: 10)

Teaching Language

Most courses are taught in Portuguese.
However:

Some courses allow assignments and exams in English, subject to approval by the lecturer
Portuguese Language Courses are available for international students (optional)

Tuition Fee (Important Notice)

Tuition fee arrangements for exchange students at the University of Porto (U.Porto) depend on the specific terms of the bilateral Cooperation Agreement between ITS and the relevant U.Porto Faculty.

Some bilateral agreements may include tuition fee exemption, while
Others do not explicitly specify the number of mobility flows or financial terms.

📌 For agreements where tuition arrangements are not clearly defined, the receiving Faculty at U.Porto will assess the feasibility of the mobility, including academic capacity and financial conditions.

Therefore:

Students should not assume automatic tuition waiver
Final confirmation regarding tuition fee exemption (if any) will be provided after faculty-level approval by U.Porto
Tuition fee arrangements are subject to the applicable bilateral agreement and final approval by the receiving Faculty at the University of Porto.

ITS nomination does not automatically guarantee tuition exemption
Official tuition status will only be known after acceptance by U.Porto

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be officially nominated by ITS
Apply for Autumn Semester 2026
Be active undergraduate (batch 2023 and 2024) or postgraduate students
Meet language requirements set by the receiving faculty
Fulfil academic and administrative requirements set by U.Porto

CV (with full name, birth date, contact details)
Certificate of Enrollment
Latest Academic Transcript in English (min. GPA 3.00/4.00)
- S2 applicants must also include S1 transcript
Passport scan (valid for at least one year from Sept 2026)
English Proficiency (CEFR B2 or higher):
- IELTS (5.5–6.5) / TOEFL iBT (72–94) / TOEFL ITP (min. 500)
- Screenshots or prediction test results are not accepted
1 Recommendation Letter (from academic advisor or lecturer)
Motivation Letter
Statement Letter (template provided)
Learning Agreement (signed by applicant and department head/secretary)

Parent’s Statement Letter (in Bahasa Indonesia) confirming full financial and emotional support – no format required
GCW Non-Degree Certificate (min. C) or GCW Result (min. 80)
- S2 students may submit R2SEP Certificate instead

Incomplete or late submissions will not be processed.
