Dear ITS Students,

Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) Japan are proudly presents Cross-cultural Engineering Project (CEP) 2025 at SIT Japan

Program Objective

The objective of CEP@SIT2025 is to develop problem-solving skills and achieve optimal solutions through an international and interdisciplinary team-based exercise. This program is part of SIT’s Global Project-Based Learning (GPBL) initiative and is conducted in three regions globally.

In Japan, CEP@SIT is organized as a collaborative project involving industry, community, university, and financial stakeholders, with participation from graduate students and 3rd–4th year undergraduate students from Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the EU.

Project themes are based on real-world issues raised by companies and local communities. To address these challenges, teams will:

  • Analyze objectives, needs, and technologies
  • Apply systems thinkingsystems methods, and systems management
  • Define requirements and develop comprehensive solutions

The program includes:

  1. Ice-breaking and team formation
  2. Theme determination, requirements analysis, and goal setting
  3. Evaluation and budget planning
  4. Design Review (DR)
  5. Project execution
  6. Final Presentation (FP)

Program Period & Location

📅 December 9–18, 2025
📍 Face-to-face at Omiya Campus of SIT and Nasu Kougen (Field Trip)


Accommodation & Expenses

  • Participants must arrange their own accommodation (SIT will provide a reference list).
  • No accommodation needed for Days 6–8 due to the field trip to Nasu.
  • Participants are responsible for:
    • Airfare
    • Travel insurance
    • Accommodation (including Days 6–8)
    • Daily transportation
    • Meals and personal expenses

Program Details

Eligibility for ITS Students

Open to:

  • D4 & S1 students from batch 2022 and 2023
  • S2 students from batch 2024
  • Must have good English proficiency (oral and written)

ITS International Office will select 5 students to participate in this program. Selected students may be eligible for a SIT scholarship. Please note that the scholarship is not guaranteed and will be announced prior to departure.

Required Documents

Please prepare and submit the following documents in PDF format:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) – include project/study experience
  2. English Proficiency Certificate – TOEFL/TEFL/EFL min. 477, IELTS/IBT equivalent, or Duolingo min. 90
  3. Statement Letter – Download here
  4. Academic Transcript – GPA minimum 3.3
  5. Parent Support Letter – signed by parents, stating awareness and financial support
  6. Passport Scan – valid for at least 12 months from 1 December 2024
  7. Motivation Letter – max. 2 pages, TNR 11, A4, margin 3 cm all sides
