Surabaya, ELECTICS ITS – Relentless hard work has finally paid off for the ICHIRO ITS Humanoid Robotics Team. At the international FIRA RoboWorld Cup and Summit 2025, held from August 11–15, 2025, in Daegu, South Korea, the team successfully won 13 medals. This outstanding achievement further solidifies ITS’s position as one of the world’s leading centers for robotics.

FIRA (The Federation of International Robot Sports Association) is a prestigious event that brings together robotics teams from around the globe. The competition not only focuses on technology but also combines sports, research, and industry to encourage innovation in robotics and artificial intelligence. One of the categories contested by ICHIRO, HuroCup Pro, challenges humanoid robots to mimic human activities such as running, archery, playing basketball, and overcoming obstacles.

Daniel Parulian Sihotang, an Electrical Engineering student from the class of 2022 and a member of the team, shared that this victory marks the pinnacle of their long journey.

“The first feeling that came was relief. All the effort, from early mornings to late nights in the lab, has finally paid off. We are proud to bring the name of Indonesia and ITS to the international stage,” he said.

According to Daniel, this achievement is not merely about awards, but also a tangible proof of the team’s dedication and perseverance. It is also a moment to show that ITS truly deserves the title of Home of Champions, both nationally and internationally.

“We also dedicate this accomplishment to Indonesia, especially since it coincides with the celebration of the nation’s 80th Independence Day,” he added.

Preparation for the competition began long before the event, not only focusing on the technical aspects of robotics such as mechanics, electronics, and programming, but also on time management, team coordination, and mental readiness. Their strategy was to simulate the competition as realistically as possible.

The greatest challenge, Daniel explained, was balancing academic responsibilities with intensive training, as well as dealing with the pressure of competing at the international level. Nevertheless, these challenges became valuable experiences that strengthened the team.

Technological innovation was also a key factor in ICHIRO’s success. In the Adult Size category, their robot featured a robust mechanical design with a wider vision system, allowing it to excel in multiple disciplines. Meanwhile, in the Kid Size category, the robot’s slimmer build enabled more stable walking and smoother motion variations.

For Daniel, the team’s greatest strength lay in their unity and mutual support.

“Even though in the arena we might be competitors, outside of it we are always teammates supporting one another. Our goal in Korea was not to bring each other down, but to lift each other up,” he emphasized.

Looking ahead, ICHIRO ITS is committed to continuing research and innovation in humanoid robotics. “We believe that the title of ‘Great’ can only be achieved by those who never stop striving,” Daniel concluded.

With the spirit of “One Heart, For the Nation, Wani!”, the ICHIRO ITS Team has once again proven that Indonesian students are capable of competing on the world stage, bringing pride to both their alma mater and their country.
