Jember, ITS News<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 The 2026 ABU Indonesia Robot Contest (KRAI) introduced a new challenge this year under the theme “Kung Fu Quest.” In this national robotics competition, Team RICHIE from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) successfully secured a semifinal position. This achievement followed their decisive victory over Team LAHBAKO-SAN from the University of Jember on Sunday, July 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With a commanding score of 130 in favor of ITS, Team Captain Muhammad Najmi Ihsan explained that the two ITS robots achieved seamless synchronization. Najmi further assessed that every movement had been meticulously designed to enable the robots, named Triseratops and Rex, to complement each other effectively in executing the first tic-tac-toe rack mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Najmi, this synchronization materialized through a clear division of tasks between the two robots. Triseratops focused on weapon retrieval and assembly, collecting the Kung-Fu Scroll (KFS) cubes at the edge of the Meihua Forest, and conducting offensive maneuvers within the arena. Meanwhile, Rex operated autonomously to identify and retrieve KFS cubes within the Meihua Forest arena. “Rex also bears the task of retrieving the spear, which will later integrate with Triseratops,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/a> student revealed that the greatest challenge did not stem from the complexity of each individual mission. Rather, the primary difficulty lay in maintaining both robots’ synchronized performance throughout the entire match. The team had to ensure that the mechanical systems, sensors, and programming responded with precision so that task transitions between robots occurred without interruption.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the supervising lecturer of the ITS ABU Robocon Team, Muhammad Lukman Hakim, S.T., M.T., elaborated that the team’s success stemmed from their capacity to adapt to challenges during the competition. In his view, the competition serves as a platform for students to refine leadership skills, time management, and teamwork. “Such knowledge is invaluable and will prove highly beneficial in the industrial sector later on,” he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecturer from the ITS Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering<\/a> added that Team RICHIE ITS continuously honed their coordination through daily match simulations over the past month. Each practice session functioned as an evaluation opportunity to perfect robot coordination and to anticipate various conditions that might arise during actual matches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the 2026 KRAI event, ITS demonstrated its students’ competence in intelligent technology and robotics. By securing a semifinal position in KRAI 2026, ITS reinforces its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4 on quality education.
