ITS Campus, ITS News<\/strong> \u2014 The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to strengthen its commitment to realizing inclusive education. To realize this vision, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a memorandum of agreement (MoA) were signed between ITS and the Indonesian National Commission on Disability (KND) at the Rectorate Building on Friday (June 26).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ITS Vice Rector III for Human Resources, Organization, Technology, and Information Systems, Imam Baihaqi, ST, MSc, PhD, emphasized that these efforts are not merely to meet accreditation requirements. He noted that this step is a tangible manifestation of ITS\u2019s commitment to expanding access to education for all segments of society. \u201cEducation for all meaning that everyone has the right to a quality education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As a concrete step, Imam revealed that ITS aims to begin admitting students with disabilities in 2027 through a special admissions process. To support this initiative, ITS is preparing various adjustments to its learning systems. Additionally, disability-friendly physical infrastructure will continue to be developed.<\/p>\n

In line with this, ITS Director of Academic Development and Learning Innovation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Aulia Siti Aisjah, M.T., explained that ITS is currently developing a more disability-friendly curriculum. These preparations also include training for faculty, staff, and students to enable them to create an inclusive learning environment. \u201cThere will be mentors or buddies to support students with disabilities,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Aulia explained that this program is designed to ensure equitable and sustainable access to education. As part of the program, students with disabilities will receive various academic accommodations, such as special scheduling for midterm and final exams. ITS also provides a special form for students who require support services during the learning process.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, KND RI Commissioner Dr. Rachmita Maun Harahap, ST, MSn, commended ITS\u2019s efforts to strengthen inclusive education through this collaboration. She also encouraged ITS to establish a Disability Services Unit (ULD) as an effort to strengthen services for people with disabilities on campus. \u201cThrough the ULD, services for people with disabilities on campus can operate more effectively,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Through this collaboration, ITS reaffirms its commitment to providing fair, equitable, and inclusive access to education for all members of society. This initiative is part of ITS\u2019s efforts to build a higher education ecosystem that is accessible to people with disabilities. The collaboration also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.<\/p>\n
