The launch took place during the 2025 Indonesian Higher Education Summit (Konferensi Puncak Pendidikan Tinggi Indonesia \u2013 KPPTI) at Granesa Grand Ballroom, Surabaya, on Wednesday (19\/11).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The COMMITS framework was inaugurated by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia, <strong>Prof Brian Yuliarto PhD<\/strong>, accompanied by the Director General of Higher Education, Science, and Technology <strong>Prof Dr Khairul Munadi<\/strong>, ITS Rector <strong>Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD<\/strong>, and Chair of the ITS Board of Trustees (MWA) <strong>Prof Dr Ir Mohammad Nuh DEA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Prof Nuh emphasized that while many universities have excelled in innovation, their societal impact remains limited. It serves as an evaluation framework designed to measure the tangible impact of universities on communities. \u201cHigher education should not only generate profit, but also deliver meaningful benefit,\u201d added Prof Nuh, who previously served as Indonesia\u2019s Minister of Education from 2009 to 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The COMMITS framework outlines <strong>five key impact clusters<\/strong> as new indicators of university contribution: Strengthening community economic and social resilience, Expanding access to education and services, Applying innovation to solve real-world problems, Contributing to environmental sustainability, and Engaging in national disaster response. Prof Nuh further explained that COMMITS is an effort to restore the core essence of the <em>Tri Dharma of Higher Education<\/em>\u2014ensuring that education, research, and community service operate in synergy rather than in isolation. \u201cUniversities are agents of social transformation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Prof Brian Yuliarto also expressed appreciation for the launch of COMMITS at KPPTI 2025, hoping it will serve as a foundation for the long-term sustainability of higher education in Indonesia. \u201cMay COMMITS transform campuses into centers of public benefit,\u201d he said with optimism.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Nuh extended his gratitude to those who contributed to the development of COMMITS, including <strong>Prof Dr Ir Tri Yogi Yuwono DEA IPU AENG<\/strong>, <strong>Dr Dra Agnes Tuti Rumiati MSc<\/strong>, <strong>Dr Ir Lily Pudjiastuti MSc<\/strong>, <strong>Prof Ir Maria Anityasarari ST ME PhD IPU ASEAN Eng<\/strong>, <strong>Prof Lalu Muhammad Jaelani ST MSc PhD<\/strong>, and <strong>Yudha Andrian Saputra ST MBA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, ITS Rector Prof Bambang Pramujati reaffirmed the university\u2019s commitment to the COMMITS initiative, \u201cITS is committed to being a university that not only produces graduates, but also delivers significant impact to Indonesian society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The launch of COMMITS also aligns with the achievement of the <strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly Goal 4 on <em>Quality Education<\/em> and Goal 17 on <em>Partnerships for the Goals<\/em>. \u201cWe hope COMMITS will be effectively implemented to support the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision,\u201d he concluded. <strong>(HUMAS ITS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Reporter: Khaila Bening Amanda Putri<\/em> <em>Source: ITS Public Relations Office<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surabaya, ITS News\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Supporting the national vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has officially launched a new impact-driven metric titled Commitment to Impactful Transformation in Society (COMMITS).
