21 November 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (DTMM), Faculty of Engineering, once again organized an academic program aimed at enhancing the quality of scientific publications within the university. This session, themed \u201cAcademic Writing,\u201d<\/strong> featured a distinguished speaker from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Ir Dr Hussin bin Mamat<\/strong>, a seasoned academic in research and publication ethics.<\/p>\n

The event was specifically designed to help participants\u2014students, lecturers, and researchers\u2014gain a deeper understanding of effective and structured academic writing techniques that meet international publication standards.<\/strong> In his presentation, Dr. Hussin emphasized that academic writing is not merely about reporting research findings, but also about communicating ideas clearly, logically, and with scientific integrity.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood academic writing is built on strong structure, precision in developing arguments, and discipline in citing sources ethically,\u201d stated Ir Dr Hussin.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He discussed various key aspects of scientific writing, including how to craft a compelling introduction, strategies for presenting research results concisely yet informatively, and techniques for constructing comprehensive and critical discussions. Dr. Hussin also highlighted the importance of academic integrity<\/strong>, especially the need for proper citation and the avoidance of any form of plagiarism.<\/p>\n

The session also featured an interactive discussion, giving participants the opportunity to directly address common challenges in writing journals or research reports.
