<\/p>\nThe IRM activity is one of the programs initiated by the Directorate of Global Partnerships (DKG) ITS. This activity aims to increase the intensity of cooperation between ITS and various universities worldwide, namely academics, research, and community service. This activity is one of the good programs to initiate and accelerate various international collaborations. Technical activities can include guest lectures, joint research, conference speakers, training, and focused discussions (FGD) by inviting and bringing professors or researchers to ITS. This initial activity will be followed by communication to achieve the targeted outputs, namely sustainable research and joint publications. The achievement of these outputs, sometimes cannot be achieved immediately after the guest lecture but requires time until the published article is accepted and published.<\/p>\n

The Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering ITS also carried out this IRM activity hosted by Dr. Widyastuti. The invited professor was Prof. Dr. Uda Hashim from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The IRM guest lecture activity was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He delivered an introduction to the discussion on: Building a Spirit of research, innovation and Publication for Students and Lecture, Case Study: Advances in Biosensor: Principle, Architecture and Application. In his presentation, he shared his experience in developing biosensor devices for Covid-19 identification in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
This program has produced two publications. The first, “Journal of Materials Chemistry and Physics” (Q1), was published in July 2025, with the lead author, IRM, and co-author Uda Hashim. The second, “Sensor Review” (Q3), was accepted in August 2025, with the lead author, Prof. Uda Hashim, and co-author Widyastuti. The IRM program also collaborated with the 2024 International Conferences on Sciences, Nano, and Healthcare Technology (ICOSNHT), held by the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FKK) and three Research Centers under the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM).<\/p>\n
The IRM program also developed research under the BRIN MIGHT scheme for Tuberculosis (TB) sensors, a collaboration between ITS, UMS, Universitas Padjajaran, and Universitas Brawijaya, although it has not yet secured funding. The collaborating ITS team includes research lecturers from FKK, both in the Medicine and Medical Technology programs, and from the Department of Materials and Metallurgy, FTIRS. According to the WHO 2023 Global TB Report, Indonesia currently ranks second in the world for TB cases. East Java also ranks second in Indonesia. Therefore, all multidisciplinary parties can work together to achieve SDG 3, namely a healthy and prosperous life, by prioritizing public health and community well-being, one of which is.<\/p>\n
