Department of Chemical Engineering ITS<\/strong> \u2014 A total of 185 students from the Chemical Engineering Class of 2023 (K63) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) participated in the Study Excursion (SE) 2026<\/strong>, held from April 21\u201324, 2026. As one of the department\u2019s annual flagship programs, the activity was designed to provide students with direct industrial exposure through visits to leading companies in the chemical, energy, petrochemical, and food sectors across East Java, Cilegon, Cikarang, and Jakarta.<\/p>\n As a compulsory academic program, the Study Excursion aims to bridge classroom learning with industrial practice. Through direct interaction with industry professionals and operational facilities, students gained valuable insights into real-world applications of chemical engineering principles, industrial processes, and emerging challenges faced by modern industries.<\/p>\n During the opening ceremony, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering ITS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lailatul Qadariyah, S.T., M.T., IPM<\/strong>, emphasized the importance of the program in preparing students for their future careers.<\/p>\n \u201cI hope students gain valuable exposure to the industrial world and witness firsthand how the theories they have learned in the classroom are applied in real industrial settings,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n In addition to the 185 participating students, the program was accompanied by five faculty members and three educational staff members. Over the course of four days and three nights, participants followed four different industrial visit routes, consisting of three Chemical Engineering routes and one Food Engineering route.<\/p>\n Throughout the program, students visited a number of prominent companies representing various industrial sectors. The destinations included PT Pertamina Lubricants<\/strong>, PT Lotte Chemical Titan Nusantara<\/strong>, PT Air Products<\/strong>, PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama<\/strong>, PT Chandra Asri Pacific<\/strong>, PGN SAKA West Pangkah<\/strong>, PT Merak Chemicals Indonesia<\/strong>, PT Pupuk Kujang<\/strong>, PT Chiel Jedang Indonesia<\/strong>, and PT Multimas Nabati Asahan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n At each company, participants attended corporate profile presentations, plant tours, and interactive discussion sessions with industry professionals. These activities provided valuable insights into production processes, operational systems, technological innovations, and the competencies required in today\u2019s industrial environment.<\/p>\n Chairperson of Study Excursion K63, Nur Masita<\/strong>, highlighted the significance of the program in helping students gain a deeper understanding of the professional world.<\/p>\n \u201cThis experience is incredibly valuable because students have the opportunity to learn directly from engineers and industry experts while discussing real challenges faced by the chemical engineering sector,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As part of the excursion, students also participated in an Alumni Gathering<\/strong> held at Patra Office Tower, Jakarta<\/strong>. The event brought together students and Chemical Engineering ITS alumni who are currently working across various industrial sectors.<\/p>\n Through interactive discussions, students gained valuable perspectives on career development, workplace challenges, and the skills required to succeed in professional environments. The event also served as a platform to strengthen connections among students, alumni, and the Department of Chemical Engineering ITS.<\/p>\n During the session, Didik Bahagia<\/strong>, Refinery Operations Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships between academia and industry.<\/p>\n He noted that collaboration between universities and alumni plays a crucial role in developing highly competitive, adaptive, and future-ready human resources capable of meeting the evolving demands of industry.<\/p>\n Beyond academic and industrial exposure, Study Excursion K63 also featured a character-building program in Yogyakarta<\/strong>. This activity was designed to foster students\u2019 soft skills while strengthening camaraderie among participants.<\/p>\n Through cultural and educational experiences, students were encouraged to develop collaboration, adaptability, leadership, and interpersonal skills that are essential for future professional success.<\/p>\n The combination of industrial visits, alumni engagement, and character-building activities provided participants with a comprehensive learning experience. Students not only enhanced their technical knowledge but also gained a broader understanding of career opportunities and the importance of professional networking.<\/p>\n Overall, Study Excursion K63 2026 was successfully conducted and delivered meaningful benefits to all participants.
