The Department of Chemical Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/strong> once again organized a student competency development program through the Software Course (SC) MATLAB 2026<\/strong>, themed Mapping Processes through Computation: A Guided Exploration of MATLAB<\/em>. The program was conducted over two days, on Saturday\u2013Sunday (March 7\u20138, 2026), at Theater A, ITS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This activity represents one of the Department\u2019s continuous efforts to equip students with computational skills relevant to modern industrial demands. Mastery of engineering software such as MATLAB has become an essential competency for Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering students in addressing increasingly complex and technology-driven process engineering challenges.<\/p>\n

On the first day, participants attended a lecture session delivered by Dr. Wahyu Meka, S.T., M.Sc.<\/strong>, who introduced fundamental concepts and applications of MATLAB in process modeling and simulation. The session was followed by interactive discussions and hands-on simulations, enabling participants to gain practical experience in solving engineering problems using computational approaches.<\/p>\n

On the second day, the program focused on group-based case studies. Participants were assigned engineering problems related to process analysis and were required to present their findings to the instructor. This method effectively encouraged the development of analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork among participants.<\/p>\n

The Software Course MATLAB 2026<\/strong> was organized through collaboration between COMDEV HIMATEKK ITS<\/strong> and CHERNIVAL<\/strong>, with participation exceeding 270 students<\/strong>. The program was not only attended by ITS students but also attracted participants from various universities across Indonesia, including Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), Universitas Jember (Unej), Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia (UISI), UPN Veteran Jawa Timur, Politeknik Negeri Malang (Polinema), Politeknik Negeri Medan (Polmed), and Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS).<\/p>\n

High enthusiasm was observed throughout the program, both from onsite and online participants. This was conveyed by Giovanna Winda<\/strong>, the person in charge<\/em> (PIC) of the activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the program, participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, both from those attending offline and those joining online. Online participants were particularly active in asking questions and engaging in discussions during the sessions,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Through this activity, the Department of Chemical Engineering ITS expects students to strengthen their computational proficiency and process modeling skills. Furthermore, the program also served as a platform for academic collaboration among students from different universities in utilizing computational technology to support innovation in chemical and food engineering fields.<\/p>\n

At the closing session, Bintang Catur<\/strong>, PIC of Software Course MATLAB 2026, expressed expectations for future implementation of similar programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the future, we hope that the Software Course MATLAB will attract even greater enthusiasm from participants, as well as improve attendance consistency, particularly for offline sessions across both days,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

As part of its commitment to enhancing the quality of education and technological competence among students, this program also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education)<\/strong> through technology-based learning enhancement, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure)<\/strong> by promoting innovation and strengthening technological competencies in process engineering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
