Prestasi ini menambah deretan capaian mahasiswa ITS dalam menghadirkan solusi inovatif untuk isu keberlanjutan, sejalan dengan fokus riset kampus dalam bidang lingkungan dan teknologi hijau (baca juga: <em data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2251\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/news\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2182\" data-end=\"2250\">ITS Dorong Inovasi Berbasis Lingkungan<\/a><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2598\">Chitocorn dikembangkan sebagai <strong data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2319\">kertas laminasi biodegradable<\/strong> yang tahan air dan minyak. Material pelapisnya berasal dari <strong data-start=\"2380\" data-end=\"2424\">kitosan ulat hongkong (Tenebrio molitor)<\/strong>, sedangkan substrat utama berupa <strong data-start=\"2458\" data-end=\"2497\">bioplastik dari pati tongkol jagung<\/strong>. Kombinasi ini menghasilkan kemasan yang kuat, aman untuk pangan, serta mudah terurai di lingkungan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2600\" data-end=\"2851\">Tidak hanya unggul dalam sifat mekanik, Chitocorn juga mengutamakan prinsip <strong data-start=\"2676\" data-end=\"2709\">kehalalan dan keamanan pangan<\/strong>. Produk ini tidak menggunakan plastisizer berbasis alkohol, sehingga dinilai aman serta dapat diterima oleh lebih banyak kelompok masyarakat.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"3243\">CHEEF 2025 sendiri merupakan kompetisi kewirausahaan teknik kimia yang berfokus pada gagasan bisnis inovatif berbasis sains dan keberlanjutan.
