The Construction Services Development and SKK Construction Examination for Urban Drainage Work Supervisors (Level 6), organized by the Department of Public Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Affairs (DPRKPP) of Surabaya City, took place with great enthusiasm and strong professional spirit. The certification program was held on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at the Vokasi Auditorium Room 103, ITS Manyar Campus, Jl. Raya Menur 127, Surabaya. This event served as an important milestone in strengthening the competence of human resources in the construction sector, especially those involved in supervising urban drainage projects—an increasingly critical role in supporting Surabaya’s ongoing flood-mitigation efforts.
Opening the event, Mr. Harindrayana, ST, MM, Head of the Working Team for Building Planning and Construction Services Development at DPRKPP Surabaya, emphasized the significance of this certification process. He highlighted that Surabaya is currently accelerating various development programs while simultaneously taking major steps to address flood-related issues. Therefore, the presence of skilled and certified field supervisors has become essential.
Mr. Harindrayana also expressed his gratitude, noting that the target of 62 participants was successfully achieved. The participants came from diverse backgrounds, including BPWS Brantas and various well-known universities such as ITS, Unesa, UPN, iTATS, UNTAG, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, Universitas Brawijaya, Wisnu Wardhana Malang, and several other institutions. This certification program is carried out in collaboration with LSP Bina Konstruksi Nusantara, ensuring that the assessment meets the national standards of professional competence.
The event also featured remarks from Tatas, Ph.D, representing the Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, ITS. He expressed his appreciation that ITS Manyar Campus was once again chosen as the venue for this important certification activity. In his message, he reminded participants that competency assessments are not merely a formality to obtain a certificate, but a meaningful opportunity to deepen understanding—particularly regarding supervision of drainage work. He explained that challenges related to flooding and standing water continue to grow due to land-use changes and increasing population density in urban areas.
Before concluding, Tatas expressed his hope that future programs of this kind would not be limited only to participants with Surabaya ID cards, allowing broader benefits for construction professionals from various regions.
This certification activity is expected to produce competent, responsible, and well-prepared field supervisors who can contribute significantly to building a more resilient and sustainable Surabaya.
