The Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) successfully held DTIS Webinar Series #9 on Thursday, November 6, 2025, carrying the theme “Lightweight Construction Material.” This event, part of the Praktisi Mengajar (Industry Practitioners Teaching) program, took place at Auditorium Room I03, Faculty of Vocational Studies ITS, and was attended by lecturers and students from various classes.
The event was warmly opened by Master of Ceremony, Mr. Yoga, followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Tatas, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies ITS. In his speech, Dr. Tatas emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in enriching students’ knowledge—especially regarding innovations in construction materials that promote efficiency, sustainability, and structural advancement in civil engineering.
The main session featured Ms. Dini Sari, Product Development Manager of PT Citicon Nusantara Industries, as the keynote speaker, and was moderated by Ms. Naura Firdausi, S.T., M.T., lecturer at the Construction Management Laboratory of DTIS.
In her presentation, Ms. Dini introduced the concept of the Lightweight Construction System, which is a principle of building using lightweight materials to significantly reduce structural loads. The reduction of structural weight can lead to smaller dimensions of structural elements—such as beams, columns, and foundations—resulting in better cost efficiency and more sustainable construction practices.
She also shared real-world examples of lightweight material applications in various modern building projects across Indonesia, along with insights into the challenges and opportunities in adopting these innovations.
The participants, consisting of students from Civil Building Structure Analysis and BIM 3D Class A as well as Prestressed Concrete Class CD, showed great enthusiasm during the session and actively engaged in discussions and Q&A activities.
This webinar served as an inspiring learning platform for students to broaden their understanding of modern construction technologies and materials. Through such collaborations between ITS and the industry, the Faculty of Vocational Studies continues to strengthen its commitment to producing skilled, innovative, and industry-ready graduates.
