ITS Campus, VOKASI News — In order to improve the Mitra Grumining waste bank management system, Sukorejo Village, Gandusari District, Trenggalek Regency, the community service team (Abmas) Department of Electrical Automation Engineering (DTEO) FV ITS developed a plastic waste pressing machine and waste management application integrated

The head of the Abmas team, Mr. Dwiky Fajri Syahbana ST M.T explained that the purpose of this activity was to help the community develop a management system for the Mitra Grumining Waste Bank and increase the selling value of plastic waste. This waste bank is one of the business units of Mitra Sejati BUMDes in Sukorejo Village, Gandusari District, Trenggalek Regency.

The pressing machine, which was developed in about two weeks, has a working system like a jack, in which previously intact plastics are pressed into denser plastic chunks. The pressed plastic solids will be transported to the buying and selling center. “With this press machine, the sales process will be much more efficient,” he said.

Apart from being given this press machine, Dwiky said, his team also provided training to waste bank managers, BUMDes officials, and local village officials. Training on operating a pressing machine for various types of plastic waste has been carried out by Dwiky and his team directly at the Mitra Gumrining Waste Bank. Meanwhile, product marketing training is conducted online.

The Abmas team, which consists of lecturers and students from DTEO, has also developed an integrated web application related to waste bank management. The web application is equipped with various features such as ordering and history of the amount of waste that has been deposited online. Meanwhile, garbage pick-up to the house and price determination by officials are carried out offline. “This application is expected to help waste bank managers in recording transactions that were previously manual, so as to minimize fraud,” he added.
