Students from the Lowest Income Groups through Expansive Scholarships and Endowment Support<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3a6ef3e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3a6ef3e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>ITS demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to inclusive education by ensuring that\u00a0<strong>financial background does not limit access to higher education<\/strong>. The university strategically leverages two primary instruments\u2014<strong>comprehensive scholarship programs and a self-managed endowment fund<\/strong>\u2014to attract, admit, and support students from the lowest 20% of household income groups in Indonesia.<\/p><p>Between\u00a0<b>2018 and 2024<\/b>, ITS has distributed\u00a0<b>more than 100 distinct scholarship schemes<\/b>, benefitting\u00a0<b>63,083 students<\/b>\u00a0in total. This broad network of financial aid reflects the university\u2019s sustained effort to make education accessible to economically disadvantaged groups.<\/p><p>Notably, in\u00a0<b>2024 alone<\/b>, ITS managed to channel\u00a0<b>73 types of scholarships<\/b>\u00a0to\u00a0<b>over 12,000 student recipients<\/b>, marking a significant increase in both the diversity and coverage of available funding opportunities. The consistent expansion of scholarship schemes each year has become a magnet for talented students from underprivileged backgrounds, assuring them that\u00a0<strong>financial constraints will not hinder their academic aspirations<\/strong>\u00a0at ITS.<\/p><p>Beyond these scholarship initiatives, ITS has strengthened its long-term commitment to equity in education through the establishment of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/danaabadi.its.ac.id\/\"><b>ITS Endowment Fund<\/b><\/a>, a self-sustaining financial mechanism designed to support educational activities, research, and community engagement under the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi framework. The fund\u2019s principal capital is preserved in perpetuity, while the returns are allocated to finance scholarships and other academic support programs.<\/p><p>As of\u00a0<b>June 2024<\/b>, the endowment fund had\u00a0<b>disbursed more than Rp 6 billion in scholarships<\/b>, marking a substantial increase from\u00a0<b>Rp 3.895 billion<\/b>\u00a0the previous year. Through research partnerships and international forums, ITS plays a strategic role in providing evidence-based insights and platforms for knowledge exchange to address inequality and promote sustainable growth.<\/p><p>At the\u00a0<b>regional level<\/b>, the\u00a0<b>Center for Regional Potential Studies and Community Empowerment (PDPM) ITS<\/b>\u00a0collaborated with the\u00a0<b>Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Bappeda Litbang) of Tuban Regency<\/b>\u00a0to develop a policy document assessing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.its.ac.id\/pdpm\/id\/2024\/08\/07\/its-membantu-mengukur-ketimpangan-ekonomi-kabupaten-tuban-tahun-2023\/\"><b>economic inequality in Tuban<\/b><\/a>. Using the\u00a0<b>Williamson Index (IW)<\/b>\u2014which measures regional economic disparity based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and population data\u2014the study revealed a high inequality level of\u00a0<b>0.98 in 2022<\/b>. In 2024, PDPM ITS continued with data validation and analysis to refine Tuban\u2019s 2023 inequality report.
