Student Access Measures

ITS Accepted 1.022 Prospective Students Through SNMPTN

 

Simultaneously all throughout Indonesia, the Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (LTMPT) or the Institute for Higher Education Entrance Test, officially announced the results of the Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN) or the National Selection of Higher Education Enrollment, on Wednesday (8/4) at 13.00 WIB. In this selection, ITS accepted 1.022 registrants that is spread across various departments.

Data Application and Acceptance Rate Based on Gender

 

ITS Surabaya continuously monitors women’s application rate, acceptance rate and study completion rate through Directorate of Education and provides the data yearly.

Women Graduates

 

ITS monitors women’s study completion rate every year through Directorate of Education. This table and graphic shows women’s graduation rate at ITS for 2015-2020.

ITS Stimulates and Boast Women in STEM through WISE Event

 

Globally, only three out of ten researchers work in the industries of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) which are women. Although at undergraduate level the percentage of women inside STEM is 50% the rate has gradually declined to 30% for master degree and 18% for doctoral degree. Low interest of women in the STEM field phenomenon was responded swiftly by ITS through a series of Women in STEM (WISE) events.

Girl Up ITS

 

ITS has Girl Up community to provide a safe space for the young women studying in ITS to discuss gender issues inclusively and fight for women’s rights to create a progressive society in efforts to achieve gender equality. Girl Up has several activities such as workshop and talk show focused on gender equality issues, especially in STEM.

Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 54 Year 2015 about Statute of ITS

 

In principle, ITS Surabaya applies non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age or national origin in the students enrollment as well as recruitment of employees. The policy of non-discrimination against all including women is written under the ITS Statute No.54/2015, specifically in Paragraph 2, Article 18, concerning Students Enrollment.

There are 3 schemes for student application to ITS, National Selection to Enter State Universities (SNMPTN); Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN); and Independent Selection. In those 3 application schemes, ITS Surabaya applies non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, and any background difference.

Admission of Non Civil Servant Lectures in ITS (Budget 2020) is announced through Announcement Letter B/48032/IT2/KP.01.00/2020. In the recruitment process for the employee, ITS also implemented a non-discriminatory policy, where all applicant regardless their background differences are welcomed to apply.

ITS Surabaya has accessible childcare facilities for students which allow recent mothers to attend university courses. The childcare facilities are located within the university area.

 

Taman Kanak-Kanak – TK SEPULUH NOPEMBER

 

ITS Kindergarten and Playgroup are provided for children of ITS staff or lecturers. This kindergarten was established based on Decree Number: 444/I04.1/DS/2000 and has an operational permit with SK number: 421.1/1067/436.7.1/2018. ITS Kindergarten and Playgroup has 5 teaching staff and 1 admin staff and 50 students. Not only that, ITS Kindergarten also has facilities such as a library, hall and playground.

GIRL UP ITS

ITS Inaugurated Organization for Woman in Science in the Developing World (ODSW)

 

As a science-based campus, ITS has always been active in efforts to accommodate various activities and organizations in the field of science. The effort is shown by the existence Organization for Woman in Science in the Developing World (OWSD).

Mentoring Schedule for ITS Students

 

ITS Surabaya conducts measurement and tracking for the likelihood for all students. In this process, the university also monitors and tracks women’s likelihood of graduating compared to men’s, and schemes in place to close any gap. The tracking is regularly done at the university level (through the Directorate of Education), and faculty and department levels.

ITS Give Tuition Waivers For Students

 

The spread of Covid-19 has an impact on all aspects of people’s lives, including the economic aspects for student parents. Based on these considerations, ITS through the Rector’s Regulation provides the waivers of tuition (UKT) payment for ITS students for the 2020/2021 academic semester.

ITS implemented policies protecting report on discrimination for its students. It is written on the Regulation of ITS Rector No. 15 Year 2019 about Student Code of Ethics, particularly Chapter XV Article 15, page 7.
