With total ownership of more than 17 thousand Islands, Indonesia is still faced with the inequitable development of coastal areas. Through Sustainable Island Development Initiatives (SIDI), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) seeks to accelerate equitable development through the small islands.

Our Devotion to Indonesia: Through SIDI, ITS Helps Developing Small Island in Indonesia

Developing Transportation by the Sustainable Cities and Communities is an important step to raise awareness of environmentally friendly energy issues. Addressing this, Cenits (Centre for Energy and Innovation Technology Studies) with ITS Alumni Association (IKA) of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Regional Board (PW) in East Java held a Round Table Discussion (RTD) with the theme Readiness to welcoming clean energy era and 5G technology in the transportation and industry sector.

Education for the SDGs

ITS has a commitment to meaningful education around the SDGs across the university. One of the examples is formulation of mandatory lecture. ITS Surabaya has a mandatory lecture entitled “Technological Insights & Applications (Wawasan dan Aplikasi Teknologi)”. The lecture is required for students in all departments. The intention of this lecture is to inspire students in developing science and insights, technology, and innovation through the use of information and communication, as well as the implementation of sustainable development based on natural and man-made resources. The lecture also provides textbook and Sustainable Development is accommodated in Chapter 2 page XX. The mandatory lecture is written under the latest Academic Regulation. The university has been trying to mainstream SDGs through all possible channels.
