Department of Civil Engineering Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) brings the vision to become a reference center of Civil Engineering in Indonesia that supports the development of innovative and internationally reputable infrastructure. The department has six focus areas of expertise that can be selected according to students’ interests and abilities, ie Geotechnical, Structure, Construction Project Management (MP), Management and Engineering of Water Resources (MRSA), Management and Engineering Transportation (MRT), and Asset Management cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works). Students will be trained to be technical graduates who can work together in groups to design environmentally friendly infrastructure, have entrepreneurial skills, and have sufficient knowledge to improve themselves based on lifelong learning philosophy.This departement is supported by 92 qualified faculty members: 9 Professors, 15 Doctors, and 68 Masters. The supporting facilities available in the department building consist of the lecture hall, 6 laboratories, reading room with more than 6000 library materials, international scientific journals, internet connection and other supporting facilities.Students of this department are able to work in groups to carry out engineering design with the continuous planning of related subjects such as public buildings, industrial buildings, and bridge structures; water supply and hydraulic structures, means of transportation and supporting facilities, geotechnical structures, and project management systems. They are guided to have competence as future professional civil engineers.Alumni of civil engineering department can work as contractor, consultant related to complete planning of civil construction, faculty and education in public and private universities. Some of the alumni of this department include Kiswo Darmawan (President Director and CEO of Adhi Karya), Hanif (Designer of building structures in Sharjah-Dubai, United Arab Emirates), M. Choliq (President Director and CEO of Waskita Karya), and Danet Suryatama (CEO of ElektrikCa).

Undergraduate ProgramUndergraduate courses in the Department of Civil Engineering ITS taken within eight semesters or four years. To obtain a bachelor degree, students of the Department of Civil Engineering of ITS need to complete 144 Semester Credit Units (SKS) during the lecture and take the TOEFL exam with a minimum score of 477. International Undergraduate ProgramThe International Undergraduate Program (also known as IUP) is a bachelor program which implements English as the language of instruction. The program offers regular undergraduate curriculum and provides opportunities for students to take part in international activities in the form of Study excursion, Internship in an international or multinational company, Student exchange, Summer/short course, and Joint degree. Master ProgramMaster’s program taken within four semesters or two years with a study load of 36 Semester Credit Units (SKS). Academic activities for master programs in the Department of Civil Engineering ITS include lectures, research activities in the laboratory, discussions and seminars, and thesis research. Doctoral ProgramThe main part of the doctoral program at the Department of Civil Engineering ITS is basically a research activity that contributes to the development of science, technology and art. Doctoral program education begins with lecture activities, then continued with qualification test before the research for dissertation is done.

Research at the Department of Civil Engineering ITS is supported by adequate laboratories and equipment to support student learning activities, facilitate research of academic staff, as well as strengthen the role of consultant in the industry.
