Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (Faculty of ICT)

About Our Faculty

The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (Fakultas Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi/FTIK) is a faculty which established at the initiative of the Indonesian President K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid (2001) to support the development of computer fields in Indonesia, especially in the eastern part of Indonesia.

The development history of this faculty began since the establishment of the Department of Computer Engineering (1985) which later changed its name to the Department of Informatics (1992). A determination as a faculty was carried out in 2001, together with the establishment of the Information Systems Department.

The National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) stated that the Bachelor Study Programs at the Department of Informatics and the Department of Information Systems were accredited A. Both of them also succeeded in gaining recognition following the assesment by the AUN QA (ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance) in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Furthermore, at 2018 a new department, namely the Department of Information Technology has been established by Rector of ITS and received an accreditation from BAN-PT.

In the ITS environment, all Departments in ICT are among the departments that are of great interest to prospective students, both the SNMPTN pathway, the SBMPTN, PKM (Partnership and Independent Programs), Bidik Misi, and other special cooperation programs.

Meanwhile, since 2019 Faculty of ICT has increased the student capacity and admitted around 450 freshers. It would consist of Department of Informatics (250), Department of Information Systems (150), and Department of Information Technology (50).

The numbers would be generated from several admission tracks including

  1. SNMPTN (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri) or National Selection of State Universities Entrance;
  2. SBMPTN (Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri) or Joint Selection for State Universities Entrance;
  3. PKM (Program Kemitraan dan Mandiri).
