Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb. Praise we always pray to the presence of Allah SWT for His abundance of wisdom, wisdom and guidance so that we can continue to contribute to our beloved country through education in technology and science. The Faculty of Technology is one of the ten faculties in the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) which contributed to the status of PTN-BH (state-owned legal institutions) in the electro field.

The Faculty of Electrical Technology (FTE) manages three departments, namely the electrical engineering department, the computer engineering department and the biomedical engineering department with A accreditation and has been certified AUN-QA. The FTE ITS has collaborated on developing staff and lecturers, education and research with international institutions including Eindhoven University – the Netherlands (1965-1970 and 1990-1993), Saga University – Japan (2003-2006), Oulu Univ – Finland ( 2006), Kumamoto Univ and several Univ in Japan (2006-2010), Hochschule Darmstadt Univ Germany (2006 – now), Fontys Univ – the Netherlands (2007 – now). Several competition programs for development have also been achieved such as ADB I (1980), ADB II (1995), TPSDP (2003-2007), JICA – Predict (2006-2010) and Institutional Competition Grant Programs (PHKI, 2008). In addition, the FTE ITS by 90 lecturers from favorite universities from various countries such as Japan, France, America, Australia, Netherlands, Canada, England, etc. The number of professors is currently 9 people. The Electrical Engineering Department has 16 laboratories, lecture halls, and other international facilities. The FTE ITS will continue to improve itself so that it can always provide the best for students, for the community, and develop the nation’s progress. May Allah SWT always guide and bless our steps to educate the life of the nation. Aamiin.

    HISTORY

The Department of Electrical Engineering FTE-ITS was established in 1960, together with the inauguration of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. Soekarno. Briefly the history of the journey of the Department of Electrical Engineering FTE-ITS can be summarized as follows:

    1. Period 1960-1961

Named the Department of Electrical Engineering, led by the Chair of the Department which is the Institute’s Presidium, consisting of:

    • President ITS: Dr. Nitisastro number
    • ITS Vice President: Prof. Ir. R. Soemardjo
    • Secretary of ITS: R. Soemani

    1. Period 1963-1965

The Department of Electrical Engineering changed its name to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, with the leadership:

    • Dean: Ir. Moerhadi
    • Assistant Dean I: Ir. Arief Owen
    • Assistant Dean II: Ir. Ong Sing Han
    • Assistant Dean III: Ir. Joe Boen Tips

    1. Period 1965 – 1983

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering continues to develop with various initials having 2 strong current and weak flow study programs, developing into 11 study programs and then changing again into five study programs.

    1. Period 1983

Is a period of transition due to the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 58 of 1982 concerning changes in faculty structure at ITS. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering changed its name to the Department of Electrical Engineering and was under the Faculty of Industrial Technology along with several other majors.

    1. Period 1984 – 1999

The Department of Electrical Engineering continues to improve and develop with a composition of five fields of study, namely Power Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Regulatory System Engineering and Computer Engineering.

In 1986, the Field of Computer Engineering Study turned into a Computer Engineering study program. The Computer Engineering Study Program was the forerunner of the establishment of the Information Technology Faculty, which was then inaugurated based on the Chancellor’s Decree on June 14, 2001. Meanwhile in the Electrical Engineering Department there is still a field of Computer Engineering studies that emphasizes computer field competencies related to hardware.

    1. Period 1999 – 2011

The Department of Electrical Engineering continues to develop following scientific developments with changes in the field of computers to Computer and Telematics Engineering.

    1. Period 2012-2016

The Department of Electrical Engineering continues to improve and develop with changing compositions, consisting of Power Systems Engineering, Multimedia Telecommunications, Electronics, Regulatory System Engineering and additional Multimedia and Network Engineering Study Programs and Biomedical Engineering Study Programs.

In 2012, the Field of Computer Engineering and Telematics changed to Multimedia and Network Engineering study program, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 382 / E / O / 2012.

In 2013, based on the assignment of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 221 / E / DT / 2013, on March 20, 2013 the Department of Electrical Engineering received the mandate to prepare the Biomedical Engineering Study Program. This study program began operations in 2015 based on Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Decree No. 102 / M / Kep / 2015, dated March 30, 2015. The Biomedical Engineering Study Program of ITS has accepted new students for the 2015/2016 academic year through the completion of the entry of new ITS partnerships and independent programs (PKM). The study program consists of 10 lecturers whose composition consists of 1 (one) professor, 2 (two) Doctors, and 7 (seven) masters.

On January 2017 based on Government Regulation No. 54 of 2015 and Chancellor Regulation No. 10 of 2016, the D3 Electrical Engineering study program became the Department of Electrical Automation Engineering under the Vocational Faculty.

    1. Period 2017 – now

The Faculty of Electrical Technology (FTE) ITS has been running since January 2017 based on Government Regulation No. 54 of 2015 and Chancellor Regulation No. 10 in 2016. The Faculty of Electrical Technology manages 3 Departments, namely:
