Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS has the vision to be an international institution in the utilization and development of science and technology of mapping survey to support the geospatial information industry and natural resources management. Field of interest in the Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS in general can be grouped into four, namely Geodesy, Geomatics, Land, and Hydrography.
This department is supported by faculty who conduct teaching and education process based on geomatics competency. At least a total of 22 faculty members with 6 doctoral qualifications, 3 in doctoral education, and 13 master’s. Geomatics Engineering ITS is also equipped with laboratory facilities to support student lectures such as Geodetic and Surveying Laboratories, Geospatial Laboratories, Geo-Marin Laboratories, Geodynamic and Environmental Laboratories and Cadastre Laboratories.
ITS Geomatics Engineering students are educated to master and apply the basics of surveying and mapping and spatial information system technology along with its various practical applications. Students are guided to use the latest tools and technologies in survey and mapping work and spatial information systems technology. They are also directed to have competencies in identifying, formulating and solving problems in the scope of surveys and mapping and have entrepreneurial insight and are able to innovate in the process of a work system.
In its development, alumni of ITS Geomatics Engineering is much needed by parties, institutions, and bodies requiring spatial information such as BAPPEDA, BAKOSURTANAL, LAPAN, Ministry of Transmigration, Ministry of Public Works, and Technical Consultant.
Undergraduate courses in the Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS taken within eight semesters or four years. To obtain a bachelor degree, students of Department of Geomatics Engineering of ITS need to complete 144 Semester Credit Units (SKS) during lecture and take TOEFL test with minimum score 477.
Master’s program in Geomatics Engineering Department ITS is taken within four semesters or two years with study load of 36 Semester Credit Units (SKS). Academic activities for master programs in the Department of Geomatics Engineering ITS include lectures, research activities in the laboratory, discussions and seminars, and thesis research.
Research in the Department of Geomatics Engineering covers the whole field of geodesy and geomatics. Much of the research focuses on four research groups: Geodetic and Surveying Laboratories, Geospatial Laboratories, Geo-Marin Laboratories, Geodynamic & Environment Laboratories and Cadastre and Land Policy Laboratories and supported by the Center for Earth Studies of Disaster and Climate Change (PSKBPI) – ITS.
