ITS Campus, ITS News<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 After taking part on an international scale since it was first coined in 2006, iStow made by the\u00a0Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a>, which is the only stowage planning software created by Indonesia, has the opportunity to be applied more broadly in Indonesia. This step was inaugurated through the handover of the iStow innovation results to the\u00a0Chairperson of the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC)<\/a>\u00a0at the ITS Rectorate Building Friday (24\/2).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Head of the KNKT, Dr. Ir Soerjanto Tjahjono warmly welcomed the mandate ITS gave. According to Soerjanto, in Indonesia\u2019s maritime sector, iStow, software for planning ship loading, can later be applied to all ships in Indonesia that will sail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main problem in cases of sinking ships today is the problem of stability, this is where the role of iStow is needed,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

As one of iStow\u2019s prominent supporters, the\u00a0Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP)<\/a>, represented by the Head of the Agam Scholarship Cooperation and Development Division Bayu Suryanto SE MBA, stressed his intention to continue supporting iStow and NTSC.<\/p>\n

\u201cLPDP is proud to have contributed to the successful development of iStow so far. We will be open to research opportunities and potential for further developments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

International Certificate<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, the Head Researcher of iStow ITS, Dr. Ing Ir Setyo Nugroho, explained currently iStow had pocketed various international certificates with high credibility. This is what he believes is that the implementation of iStow has been recognized as safe globally.<\/p>\n

\u201ciStow uses ship stability and strength calculations by the safety criteria of the International Maritime Organization (IMO),\u201d said the Head of the ITS Marine Transportation Engineering Department.<\/p>\n

This bespectacled man explained more deeply that, currently, the condition of ships in Indonesia is that many still need to use standardized cargo calculation standards. It starts from being prone to human error to calculating accuracy that does not meet standards, and this also triggers many maritime accidents that still occur.<\/p>\n

Continuing this statement, the Head of the KNKT acknowledged that the stowage plan is currently being made manually with a high error rate. iStow\u2019s role will be a new opportunity and a future challenge for the maritime sector in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201ciStow has been assisted with digital transformation, so the loading planning process is speedy,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Deputy Chancellor IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation and Alumni\u00a0ITS<\/a>, Bambang Pramujati, ST MSc Eng Ph.D., said that while developing iStow for approximately 17 years, LPDP has provided much support, which can be utilized very well. \u201cThis also triggers the optimization of iStow development to be achieved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The leadership ranks of ITS, NTSC, and LPDP were also present at the Handover of ITS iStow Innovation Results to the NTSC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alluding to iStow\u2019s prospects, Bambang stated that ITS needed the support of more industrial partners to achieve the hopes of this innovation to improve maritime security. \u201cThis is where ITS believes that the KNKT can utilize iSTow more progressively and comprehensively,\u201d he said optimistically.\u00a0(ITS Public Relation)<\/strong><\/p>\n
