Nationally, only JTSP has the core competence in the field of Marine Engineering with the bachelor level of undergraduate programs.

To support the academic and research activities JTSP is supported by six laboratories, which are Marine Machinery, Vibration and Noise; Fluid Machines and Systems Lab; Reliability and Safety; CNC and Metal Processing; Computational and 3D Models, as well as Electrical and Automation Lab. In particular, JTSP has established cooperation and professionalism acclaim from International Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST) as well as The Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA). Since 2011, Wismar University (German) has also been working with JTSP to hold double degree program in Marine Engineering.
