Industrial Engineering Course was established in 1985, which then transformed into Industrial Engineering Department of ITS in 1996. Industrial Engineering Department has successfully obtained accreditation A from BAN-PT in 2011. Industrial Engineering Education aims to create graduates who have high competence in planning, organizing, and controlling operational system in a vast and complex industry, also has the ability to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of industrial systems. Therefore, the Industrial Engineering degree are required to have the ability in the field of engineering sciences and social sciences altogether, in order to observe and resolve industrial problems by using systems approach.

Industrial Engineering education consists of undergraduate and graduate programs. For undergraduate (S1), there are three study programs offered; which are regular class, international class, and business management class. Master program offers areas of expertise in Industrial Engineering Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM), Quality and Manufacturing Management (QMM), Industrial System Optimization (ISO), Industrial Ergonomics and Safety (IES), and Strategic Performance Management (SPM). Doctoral program currently offers Logistics and Supply Chain Engineering (LSCE), Quality and Manufacturing System (QMS), and Industrial System Optimization (ISO) expertise. Industrial Engineering graduates cover a broad range of professions, as an engineer, planner, system analysts, managers, entrepreneurs, bankers and researchers and faculty. Nowadays, alumni of Industrial Engineering are dedicating their selves inside and outside the country, working in government and private agencies.
