ITS Campus, Seatrans News \u2013 <\/strong>Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) prioritizes high school students from archipelagic regions in Indonesia in the Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Tes (SNBT) and Seleksi Prestasi in 2023. That means, if the test scores between students during SNBT or the selection is of the same value, then students\u2019 regional origin determines the priority for their acceptance in the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering ITS.<\/p>\n

Head of Marine Transportation Engineering Department, Dr-Ing. Ir. Setyo Nugroho said that this was done to promote equal distribution of quality education for students in Indonesia with relatively limited access to education compared to the island of Java. “This policy is expected to produce regional high school students from the island areas to be given quality higher education opportunities so that later these graduates can return to their respective regions to contribute to regional development and progress.”<\/p>\n

He continued, that marine and maritime transportation knowledge would be needed in the future to follow Indonesia’s prospects for its maritime potential. In addition, students from island areas are expected to be able to see and solve sea transportation problems in their area in the future<\/p>\n

To welcome this policy, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering ITS also invites the public to attend the “Open Campus Seatrans ITS 2023” event to get to know more about marine transportation, the curriculum studied, life on campus, to the job prospects of current and in the future. This event will be held 3 times. The first session was held on Saturday 17 March 2023 and the second session will be held on Saturday, 8 April 2023. The Seatrans ITS Open Campus will also be held later by offline session to several high schools in the upcoming Seatrans Super Sailing (SSS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
