The Independent Professional Profile of the Bachelor\u2019s Degree Program in Marine Transportation Engineering (PSSTTL) is formulated based on an analysis of industry needs and aligned with the academic discipline of the study program, as well as the vision and mission of ITS (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember)<\/strong> and the vision and mission of PSSTTL.<\/p>\n
The formulation of the PSSTTL Independent Professional Profile takes into account Indonesia\u2019s position as an archipelagic country that requires professionals with specialized competencies in maritime transportation. Therefore, graduates are expected to be able to manage Indonesia\u2019s maritime transportation sector in a more optimal manner.<\/p>\n
In establishing and evaluating the Independent Professional Profile, PSSTTL involves relevant stakeholders, including faculty members, alumni, industry representatives, professional associations, and government institutions related to the maritime transportation sector. This engagement aims to obtain appropriate feedback in line with developments in industry, economics, and the professional environment, so that the graduates produced can meet the demands of the workforce.<\/p>\n

In accordance with the applicable regulations, the Bachelor\u2019s Degree Program is designed to be completed within 8 semesters (4 years)<\/strong> with a total academic load of 144 credit units (Semester Credit Units\/SCU)<\/strong>. The study period of eight semesters is divided into two stages, namely the Preparatory Stage<\/strong> and the Bachelor Stage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
The Preparatory Stage covers Semesters 1 and 2<\/strong> with a total load of 36 credit units<\/strong>, while the Bachelor Stage covers Semesters 3 to 8<\/strong> with a total load of 108 credit units<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
During the Preparatory Stage, students are equipped with general basic courses<\/strong>, basic science courses<\/strong>, fundamental naval architecture courses<\/strong>, and basic economics courses<\/strong>. Meanwhile, in the Bachelor Stage, students are provided with fundamental knowledge of maritime transportation engineering<\/strong>, as well as specialized courses and professional competencies<\/strong> that characterize the core field of maritime transportation.<\/p>\n
In addition to classroom-based courses, the curriculum also includes assignment-based and practical courses<\/strong>, as well as elective courses<\/strong> in the fields of Shipping<\/strong>, Ports<\/strong>, and Maritime Logistics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Unlike other engineering programs that are more product-oriented<\/strong>, marine transportation engineering is more function- and demand-oriented<\/strong>. The functions that become the focus of marine transportation engineering are derived from the needs of service users in the process of maritime transport, both at the macro and micro levels.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the products associated with the field of maritime transportation engineering include ships and ports<\/strong>. Therefore, there is a close interconnection between maritime transportation engineering and other engineering disciplines, particularly naval architecture and civil engineering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the Bachelor\u2019s Degree Program in Maritime Transportation Engineering was established with the objective of producing globally competent professionals<\/strong> who possess specialized expertise in the field of maritime transportation. It is expected that graduates will be able to manage and develop Indonesia\u2019s maritime transportation sector in a more optimal and sustainable manner.<\/p>\n
In general, there are three (3) major industrial sectors<\/strong> related to education in Maritime Transportation Engineering, namely: the shipping industry<\/strong>, the port industry<\/strong>, and freight forwarding services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Students of Marine Transportation Engineering are prepared to become graduates who are capable of solving problems in the field of marine transportation engineering. This includes conceptual ship design<\/strong>, planning and management of maritime transportation networks<\/strong>, ship fleets<\/strong>, ports and terminals<\/strong>, as well as intermodal (multimodal) transportation systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
At present, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering offers only the Bachelor\u2019s Degree Program (S1)<\/strong> and the Double Degree Master\u2019s Program (S2)<\/strong>. Meanwhile, the Doctoral Program (S3)<\/strong> is currently administered by the Department of Ocean Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) \u2013 ITS.<\/p>\n
