Starting with the formation of the Marine Design and Transportation Laboratory in the Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering Department, the Marine Transportation study program began to be introduced in the ITS Faculty of Marine Technology.[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2004″]<\/p>\n
In 2004, after running the Marine Transportation and Design Laboratory for more than ten years, a field of specialization in Marine Transportation was launched with a special curriculum separate from the curriculum of the Department of Naval Architecture.[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2009″]<\/p>\n
In order to adapt the scientific field to field practice, in 2009 the Marine Transportation field of study made changes and curriculum development.[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2011″]<\/p>\n
With experience in managing fields of study and experience in building cooperation with various stakeholders in the marine transportation sector from both the government and industry sectors, on March 24, 2011 the Department of Marine Transportation was officially established. And at the same time, the Department of Marine Transportation accepts the first batch of students[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2012″]<\/p>\n
Good cooperative relations with various stakeholders in managing the department for making the Department of Marine Transportation, in 2012, won the Dutch Government’s trust to build human resource capacity in marine transportation through the cooperation of the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC<\/strong>) in the Capacity Building program in Marine Transportation and Logistics and Research at ITS.[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2014″]<\/p>\n In 2014, the Department of Marine Transportation, as a relatively young department at ITS, obtained an “B” accreditation rating from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT<\/strong>) with a validity period of 2014-2019. At the same time, the Department of Marine Transportation conducted another curriculum update.[\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2017″]<\/p>\n With the enthusiasm and persistence of all stakeholders in the Department of Marine Transportation, in 2017, the Department of Marine Transportation succeeded in achieving an “A” accreditation rating from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT<\/strong>) with a validity period of 2017-2022. And at the same time, adjusting to the development of clustering of scientific fields at ITS, the Department of Marine Transportation changed its name to the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering.<\/p>\n [\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2020″]<\/p>\n In 2020, the Marine Transportation Engineering Department officially occupies a new building. At the same time, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering succeeded in obtaining accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE<\/strong>) which is also part of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII<\/strong>).<\/p>\n [\/single_timeline][single_timeline year=”2021″]<\/p>\n In 2021, Department of Marine Transportation Engineering held Master Program of Marine Transportation Engineering.<\/p>\n [\/single_timeline][\/timeline][dot_custom_title position_text=”left” title=”History More”][\/dot_custom_title][vc_tta_accordion active_section=”1″ collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”1992: For example, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering” tab_id=”1533737858415-b7ce269a-5d36″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The importance of the maritime sector for the Indonesian nation has been fully realized by the ITS founding fathers. <\/span>This was evidenced by the opening of the Faculty of Shipping Engineering at the beginning of the founding of ITS (1960) together with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering in addition to the 2 (two) faculties that already existed namely the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. <\/span>Since then, ITS Shipping Engineering has given color to the development of the maritime industry in Indonesia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In its development, based on needs and because of regulations, the Faculty of Shipping Engineering turned into the Faculty of Marine Technology which consisted of 3 (three) majors namely: Shipping Engineering Department, Department of Ship Engineering Engineering (1982) and Marine Engineering Department (1983).<\/span><\/p>\n In 1992, Ir. <\/span>Tri Achmadi, Ph. <\/span>D (one of the lecturers in the Shipping Engineering Department) upon returning from his S3 education at Newcastle Upon Tyne University UK, proposed to open a new field of study (field of expertise) in Shipping Engineering, namely the field of Marine Transportation. <\/span>Fields of study (expertise) that already exist in the Department of Shipping Engineering at that time were Ship Construction and Strength, Ship Hydrodynamics, Ship Design and Ship Production.<\/span><\/p>\n However, the idea to open a new field of expertise, namely Marine Transportation in the Department of Shipping Engineering has not been realized due to the lack of lecturers with similar interests and also due to the limitations of departmental facilities. <\/span>Therefore, to begin introducing the field of expertise in Marine transportation to students and lecturers in the Department of Shipping Engineering, a new laboratory, namely the Ship Design and Sea Transportation Laboratory, was chaired by Ir. <\/span>Setijoprajudo, M.SE. <\/span>(one of the lecturers of the Shipping Engineering Department who also studied Marine transportation) and consisted of Ir. <\/span>Tri Achmadi, Ph.D. <\/span>At that time, the introduction of the field of Marine transportation to students was carried out by offering elective courses namely the Marine Transportation System Course.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2004: Field of Marine Transportation Studies” tab_id=”1533737858483-dd73bd68-52c0″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Since it was first introduced in 1992, the enthusiasm of students studying the field of marine transportation studies has continued to increase. <\/span>In addition, the number of lecturers who have an interest in the field of marine transportation studies is also increasing. <\/span>Based on these conditions and also the high demand for graduate users, the Shipping Engineering Department (under the leadership of Ir. Triwilaswandio Wuruk Pribadi, M.Sc.) opened a new field of study, namely the Field of Marine Transportation Studies in addition to the pre-existing fields of study.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Recognizing the high demand for engineering graduates who have special competencies in the field of Marine transportation. <\/span>With these considerations, the Shipping Engineering Department decided to submit a proposal for the establishment of a new department, namely the Department of Marine Transportation.<\/span><\/p>\n One of the requirements for a study field to stand independently as a department is to have graduates, so the management of the field of marine transportation studies in Shipping Engineering is slightly different from other fields of study. <\/span>Therefore, specifically for the field of marine transportation studies a separate curriculum developed separately from the Shipping Engineering curriculum. <\/span>This was done in preparation for submitting the field of marine transportation studies as a separate department. <\/span>Thus, at the time of compiling the 2004-2009 curriculum, the Shipping Engineering Department applies 2 (two) curricula, namely the Shipping Engineering curriculum (for the field of ship construction and strength studies, ship hydrodynamics, ship design and ship production) and the Shipping Engineering curriculum specifically for <\/span>field of marine transportation studies.<\/span><\/p>\n The application of the validity of 2 (two) curriculum is as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Thus, students of the 2003 class are the first Shipping Engineering students who have the right to formally take Marine Transportation as their chosen field of expertise. in 2007, the field of study of marine transportation Shipping Engineering has graduated with special competencies in the field of Marine transportation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2011:The Department of Marine Transportation Officially Stands” tab_id=”1533738033256-0795e763-66ff”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Since first graduating with a special competency in the field of Marine Transportation in 2007 and followed by the following years, in 2010 the Shipping Engineering Department submitted a proposal for the establishment of the Marine Transportation Department. <\/span>This effort finally materialized after going through a series of administrative processes and presentations to various related parties. <\/span>On March 24, 2011 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. <\/span>55 \/ E \/ O \/ 2011 Marine Transportation is officially declared as the Department of Marine Transportation with a Bachelor of Marine Transportation Study Program. <\/span>In the 2011\/2012 school year the Department of Marine Transportation has the right to accept new students through a selection process such as applicable regulations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n On June 24, 2011, the 4th Department as well as the youngest department in the Faculty of Marine Technology held an official ceremony. <\/span>The inauguration of the Department of Marine Transportation was carried out by the Director General of Marine Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation together with the ITS Chancellor. <\/span>The inauguration program was attended by stakeholders in the sea transportation sector, both from government agencies such as port authorities and transportation agencies, as well as by both state-owned and private industries such as shipping companies, ports, freight forwarders and others.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2011, there were 37 students who were accepted as first batch of Marine Transportation Department students. <\/span>The Principal Registration Number (NRP) of the Sea Transportation Department students is 44-11-100-0XX where the first digit is the faculty number (FTK), the second digit is the department number in the faculty, the third and fourth digits are the student entry year and then the serial number <\/span>college student.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2012: Capacity Building Program” tab_id=”1533738141356-915e5e57-a0fd”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n After a year of being officially established as a department, the Marine Transportation Department was able to get a grant (assistance) from the Government of the Netherlands (Nuffic) through the Netherlands Program Initiative for Capacity Development in Higher Education (NICHE).<\/span> This grant program is contained in a contract with Project Number: NICHE \/ IDN \/ 145 and Grant Number: CF8701 with the theme “Capacity Building in Marine Transportation and Logistics Education and Research at ITS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This grant program lasts for 4 (four) years from October 2012 to October 2016 with a total grant of \u20ac 1,500,000.<\/span> The implementing grant program is a consortium of several leading institutions of higher education and industry in the Netherlands, namely STC BV (as the consortium chairman), Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), Rotterdam University of Applied Science (RUAS) and Panteia.<\/span> There are 10 programs that are targeted in this capacity building program, namely:<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2014: New Curriculum Development” tab_id=”1533738369515-6a54fd1b-e335″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n When Marine transportation officially stood as an independent department, the applicable curriculum at that time was a curriculum developed during sea transportation still as a field of study in the Shipping Engineering Department. <\/span>At that time, the applicable curriculum was the curriculum for the period 2009-2014.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In 2014, the Department of Marine Transportation for the first time developed the curriculum independently as a department. <\/span>The 2014-2019 curriculum is designed based on the applicable provisions in the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and the National Higher Education Standards (SNPT). <\/span>The preparation of the curriculum begins with determining the Achievement of Graduates’ Learning (CPL) study program which is a representation of the competencies expected by graduates.<\/span><\/p>\n The series of processes for implementing the 2014-2019 curriculum evaluation coincides with one of the agendas in the nuffic grant program. <\/span>Therefore, the curriculum evaluation process of the Marine Transprotation Department was carried out by involving several universities that are members of the nuffic grant program consortium as a benchmark. <\/span>in drafting a new curriculum for the Department of Marine Transportation. <\/span>In addition, curriculum evaluation was also carried out by involving alumni (Shipping Engineering alumni with expertise in sea transportation), the Marine transportation sector industry and government agencies to accommodate several inputs so that graduates from the Marine Transportation Department could meet the needs of graduate users.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2017: Become the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering” tab_id=”1533738404995-e95a5bb0-86b2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n ITS (Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology) officially statuses as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH) as of October 17, 2014 based on Government Regulation No. <\/span>83 of 2014. With the status of PTNBH, ITS has a new mandate, which must be able to manage autonomously in the academic field, operational norms and policies as well as the implementation of the organization, finance, student affairs, staff and facilities and infrastructure. <\/span>To fully apply PTNBH, ITS applies a transition period of approximately 2 (two) years (2015 – 2016).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In line with the transformation process of ITS towards Legal Entity State Universities, in 2016 the new ITS Governance Organization (OTK) was issued based on Chancellor Regulation No. <\/span>10 of 2016 to replace the old OTK in 2013 based on Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. <\/span>86 of 2013 concerning ITS OTK. <\/span>The changes in ITS to PTNBH bring many impacts, one of which is the restructuring of faculties and departments within the ITS. <\/span>Related to this new OTK, a Decree of the Rector of ITS Number 300 \/ IT2 \/ HK.00.01 \/ 2017 was issued on January 23, 2017 regarding the Change in the Name of the Department of Marine Transportation to the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2020: New Building” tab_id=”1616387289032-11bc0981-39f5″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n In 2020, the Marine Transportation Engineering Department officially occupies a new building.
