The Department of Marine Transportation Engineering is the youngest department within the Faculty of Marine Technology, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya. Nevertheless, this department has pioneered the establishment of a marine transportation engineering community forum called the Marine Transportation Engineering Higher Education Forum<\/strong>, whose members include Hasanuddin University and Pattimura University.<\/p>\n

Unlike other engineering study programs, which are more product-oriented, marine transportation engineering is more function- and demand-oriented. The functions focused on by marine transportation engineering are derived from the needs of service users in the maritime transportation process, both at the macro and micro levels. The products associated with marine transportation engineering are ships and ports, thus establishing a strong connection between marine transportation engineering and other engineering disciplines, particularly shipbuilding and civil engineering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Therefore, the Marine Transportation Engineering Undergraduate Program was established with the aim of producing globally qualified professionals with specialized competencies in the field of maritime transportation, enabling them to manage the maritime transportation sector in Indonesia more optimally. Generally, there are three industrial sectors related to education in Marine Transportation Engineering: the shipping industry, the port industry, and freight forwarding.<\/p>\n

Marine Transportation Engineering students are prepared to become graduates capable of solving problems in the field of marine transportation engineering, including conceptual ship design, planning and management of maritime transportation networks, fleets, ports and terminals, and multimodal transportation.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering only offers a Bachelor’s (S1) study program, while the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) study programs are managed by the Department of Naval Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, ITS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
