ITS Organizes Halal Product Process Assistance Training to Develop Competent Halal Human Resources Among Young Professionals

Surabaya, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to strengthen the development of the national halal ecosystem through the Halal Product Process Assistance Training (Pendamping Proses Produk Halal/PPH) held on 25 August 2026. The training was attended by 62 participants from various departments at ITS, including Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Information Systems, Development Studies, Communication Science, and Medical Technology.

The program aimed to equip participants with the competencies required to become Halal Product Process Assistants (Pendamping PPH) by providing knowledge on halal product assurance regulations, Islamic principles related to halal products, the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), and practical skills for submitting halal certification applications through the digital SIHALAL platform.

The training began with an orientation session, pre-test, and explanation of the assessment mechanism, consisting of attendance (5%), participation (10%), assignments (60%), and evaluation through pre-test and post-test (25%).

The first session, Islamic Sharia Principles Related to Halal Product Assurance (JPH), was delivered by Dr. rer.nat. Nasori. Participants learned about the fundamental principles of halal and haram, Islamic requirements for halal products, and the role of Pendamping PPH in supporting businesses to comply with halal standards.

The next session, presented by Prof. Setiyo Gunawan, S.T., Ph.D., IPM, discussed General Policies and Regulations on Halal Product Assurance (JPH). This session covered Indonesia’s halal certification regulations, certification mechanisms, and the roles of various stakeholders within the national halal ecosystem.

The training continued with a session on Halal Product Process Assistance and the Role of Pendamping PPH, delivered by Muhammad Akil Wasilah N, S.Si.. Participants gained an understanding of the responsibilities of halal product assistants, particularly in assisting Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in fulfilling halal certification requirements.

Participants also received technical knowledge regarding SJPH Criteria, Halal Materials and Products, and Halal Product Processes (PPH). The session focused on identifying critical materials, controlling production processes, and implementing halal principles throughout the production chain.

In addition to theoretical sessions, participants took part in practical training on Business Identification Number (NIB) registration and the SIHALAL system. This session provided hands-on experience in registering business actors and submitting halal certification applications digitally. The practical session was guided by Ulfah Lailatul Khoiriah, S.T., M.T., Muhammad Dzaki Arzadenis, and Ilyas Muhammad Al Hafizh.

The one-day training concluded with a post-test and closing session. Through this program, ITS expects participants to become part of competent halal human resources who can contribute to accelerating halal certification implementation, particularly by assisting micro and small businesses.
