In support of the Mandatory Halal October (WHO) 2026 policy, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), through Tekno Sains Academy, organized the 20th Batch of Halal Supervisor Training on 10–12 February 2026. The program was held at the DRPM Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Research Centre Building, ITS, and was attended by 12 participants from diverse industries and institutions. Participants represented various sectors, including PT INTI DUTA LESTARI PLASINDO, PT Milagro Ink Chemindo, PIC PT Bahtera Utama Logistik, the owner of Arek Coffee, independent entrepreneurs, HH Batik, PERUMDA Air Minum Muara Tirta Kota Gorontalo, PT Karya Mas Makmur, and Yayasan Inspirasi Nusantara Aman Makmur. The participation of representatives from manufacturing companies, logistics providers, SMEs, and regional public enterprises reflects the growing awareness among business actors regarding the importance of implementing the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) comprehensively. The training featured expert speakers from Tekno Sains Academy – ITS, namely Ahmad Muklason, S.Kom., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Dr. Fahmi, S.T.; Prof. Nuraini Rachmawati; Dr. Yeni Rahmawati, S.T., M.T.; Siti Nurkhamidah, S.T., M.S., Ph.D.; Dr. Orchidea Rachmaniah, S.T., M.T.; Ir. Badril Azhar, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Dr. Ir. M. Maktum Muharja Al Fajri, S.T. The speakers delivered comprehensive materials on the halal ecosystem, covering regulations and the scope of the Halal Product Assurance (JPH), the concepts of halal–haram and halal fatwas, the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), as well as a hands-on simulation of halal certification registration through the SIHALAL system. Beyond regulatory and administrative aspects, the training also introduced technological innovation in halal documentation management. Participants were introduced to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate and improve the accuracy of preparing SJPH manual documents. This technology-driven approach is expected to enhance the efficiency of the halal certification process while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian industries in the global market. Through this initiative, ITS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the national halal ecosystem, particularly in preparing competent human resources as Halal Supervisors. By integrating regulation, education, and technological innovation, ITS remains optimistic that the implementation of Mandatory Halal October 2026 will be more effective and deliver significant positive impact across multiple sectors.
