Submission of Halal Certificates to Business Actors
[Surabaya, 8 February 2026] – Efforts to strengthen the regional halal ecosystem continue to be promoted through the Halal Seminar held as part of the Hidayatullah Luqman Al Hakim Halal Festival 2026 in Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya, Sunday, 8 February 2026. The event brought together a strategic collaboration between academics, government representatives, and halal inspection bodies to support the implementation of halal product assurance policies at the regional level.
The seminar featured the Head of the Halal Study Center at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Prof. Setiyo Gunawan, ST., PhD, who highlighted the crucial role of Halal Centers in supporting government policies and strengthening the halal ecosystem. According to him, synergy among universities, regulators, and the community is key to building a credible and sustainable halal system.
“Halal Centers play a strategic role in education, research, and assisting business actors to meet halal standards in a scientifically sound and regulatory-compliant manner,” said Prof. Setiyo.
The next session was delivered by the Head of the Islamic Community Guidance Section, H. Muhammad Yahya, S.Pd.I., MA, who explained the implementation of Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance and outlined the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ policy direction in strengthening regional halal ecosystems. He emphasized that halal certification serves not only as consumer protection but also as a means to enhance the competitiveness of national products.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Operational Division of LPH Hidayatullah Central Office, Bang Adika Nosa, presented the role of LPH Hidayatullah in supporting government policies through halal inspection services and certification assistance, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The event also included the presentation of halal certificates to business operators and the official inauguration of the Hidayatullah Luqman Al Hakim Halal Center in Surabaya. The establishment of this Halal Center is expected to serve as a hub for education, consultation, and halal certification assistance in East Java.
The seminar concluded with halal certification registration consultation services for business actors, as a concrete step toward accelerating halal certification and strengthening the halal-based economy.
