[Surabaya, May 6, 2025] – The One Pesantren One Product (OPOP) working meeting of East Java Province was held at Aria Centra Surabaya, May 5-6, 2025. This activity discussed the road map for strengthening and developing OPOP East Java for the period 2025-2030. One of the focuses is to increase the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) which will ultimately have an impact on improving the welfare of the people in East Java.
Sharia economy has been included in Asta Cita and the National Long-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Panjang Nasional, RPJPN) 2025-2045 as the main stream for strengthening the national economy. Therefore, the East Java Provincial Government has a priority program, namely the OPOP Eco-Tren, which aims to develop a community economy based on Islamic boarding schools, especially to realize Islamic boarding schools that are more economically resilient.
The East Java OPOP Working Meeting was attended by various elements, including representatives of Bank Indonesia East Java, OJK East Java, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Unair, Unusa, ACSB, Kemenag, Kadin, RRI, TVRI, related OPDs and several representatives of Islamic Boarding Schools in East Java
Assistant 3 for General Administration of the Regional Secretary of East Java Province, Akhmad Jazuli, in his direction conveyed the importance of the Islamic boarding school economic empowerment program. “Islamic boarding schools as the basis for empowering the people’s economy, through three main pillars, namely pesantrenpreneur, santripreneur and sociopreneur, explained the Daily Chair of OPOP East Java, Endy Alim Abdi Nusa. Furthermore, the Secretary of the East Java OPOP Team, Mohammad Ghofirin targeted that by the end of 2030 at least 2,000 Islamic boarding schools would be empowered.
