On Thursday, February 13, 2025, the ITS Library organized a workshop titled “How to Access & Publication with Emerald”, which was held with the aim of enhancing students’ and researchers’ understanding of how to access and utilize resources from Emerald Publishing, a leading international journal platform. The event was held in a hybrid format, with participants present at the CCWS Room, 1st Floor of the ITS Library, as well as participants joining online via the Zoom platform.<\/p>\n

\"Emerald<\/a><\/p>\n

The workshop featured Mr. Irwan Sukardi, Business Manager of Emerald Publishing Indonesia, as the main speaker. Mr. Irwan provided a comprehensive presentation on access to international publications and the benefits that can be obtained by academics, particularly postgraduate students, from using the Emerald platform. In his explanation, Irwan emphasized that Emerald provides a variety of high-quality journals, articles, and research that can be used by students, researchers, and other academics to support their research. “With access to a diverse range of international journals, researchers can find broader information sources, delve deeper into their research topics, and improve the quality of their publications,” said Mr. Irwan. He also discussed in detail how to use the features available on Emerald to maximize the search for journals and publications that are relevant to research needs.<\/p>\n

As the moderator, Mrs. Wiwi Wiyanti, Business Development Manager of iGroup Indonesia, provided further explanation on how the use of technology and digital platforms such as Emerald is crucial in facilitating the process of scientific publication. “In this digital era, it is important for us not only to access relevant literature, but also to take advantage of opportunities to publish research results internationally through platforms like Emerald,” added Mrs. Wiwi.<\/p>\n

\"Emerald<\/a><\/p>\n

The workshop activity was highly interactive, with many participants actively asking questions. One of the interesting points was the presence of international students in the event. This indicates that the workshop was not only attractive to Indonesian students, but also served as a forum for the exchange of information between countries. Most of the participants were postgraduate students, demonstrating a strong interest in developing research and scientific publication skills.<\/p>\n

One of the participants, a postgraduate student, posed a question about the effective way to optimize the search for articles and journals on Emerald. “I found this workshop very helpful, especially the search and filter features that can speed up the search for relevant journals in my research,” the participant expressed. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the many questions raised regarding practical ways to use Emerald for research and scientific publication purposes.<\/p>\n

This event is expected to enhance information literacy and scientific publication skills among ITS students, as well as help them access international resources that can enrich their research. With workshops like this, the ITS Library is further establishing itself as a center of information literacy, not only providing access to various digital resources, but also playing an active role in supporting the development of knowledge and research.<\/p>\n
