Ocean Engineering

Ocean Engineering

In order to support the national development based on the development of marine technology, resources are required in the field of adequate quantity and quality. Because sustainable development for Indonesia will rely heavily on Indonesia’s success in developing marine resources. Based on the desire to play an active role in the Human Resource Quality Improvement Program in marine technology, since 1992, the Faculty of Marine Technology pioneered cooperation with The Department of Marine Technology, The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne to pioneer postgraduate program in the field of marine technology.

The Department of Ocean Engineering that is in the auspices of the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) opened a Graduate program of S-2 maritime technology starting from the school year of 1996/1997. From the school year 1993/1994 to the school year of 2004/2005, it graduated 118 of its’ alumni from the existing 555 students. Starting from the school year of 2001/2002, the marine technology doctoral program has been opened.

Powered by 42 qualified teaching staff: 3 professors, 13 doctoral persons, and 26 masters. The supporting facilities available are as follows: Lecture room, 10 laboratories, reading room with more than 6000 library materials, 18 international scientific journals, Internet connection, and other facilities.

Purpose

The purpose of the Ocean Engineering Postgraduate education Program is to improve the ability of independent development and management capabilities at adequate levels to be able to use an effective and efficient maritime technology solution in solving development problems.
